Clos- prices 11 points lower; New York, July 29.-The cotton mar- easy j ket opened easy at a decline of 22 points on August and of 4al3 on other months as a result of a renewal of Wall street and Southern selling in response to easy cables, favorable crop reports, good weather and unfavorable weekly review of the trade situation. There was a good deal of covering for the week-end and prices rallied a few points from the lowest during the mid dle of the morning but buyers found plenty of cotton for sale on a scale up and the tone of the market showed little Improvement. Cables w’ere not up to expectations but were not low enough to warrant the initial decline seen on this side of the water. Good crop reports, a favorable wea ther map and the report of the first bale of new cotton in Alabama against August 14 last year, cause rather short selling around the first call. The market had little buying power in the early trading and there were no signs of a reaction. At the end of the first half hour of business trading months were 14 to 17 iK)ints under yester day’s last quotations. The market was very weak through out thq session and decline under its own weight. Shorts did not force things at all but steady selling was in evidence, based apparently on the j belief that the market was otn its way I to ten cents in order to discount new crop porspects.
