Mr. Will M. Manning was found early this morning in a dying condi tion in the back yard of the old Car son place, on South Tr>'on street. He vas removed to the police sta- • ion and died there at 6 minutes after 7 o’clock. The body was removed at once to Z. A. Hovis & Co.’s new un dertaking establishment, on North Tryon street. When Desk Sergeant Scullion was coming to work this morning he was told that there was a man lying on a bench in the back yard of the Car son place. As soon as he reached the ofRce he sent Officers McKnlgbt and McCall with the patrol to see who it wag and to bring the man in. The officers found the man immediately in rear of the house They recognized him at once a? Will Manning. At first they thougbT he was asleep, but in an in- Btand recognized and in fact that his bleep was the stupor of death. He was in a dying condition. They took him a? quickly as possible to the po lice station and summoned physi cians. Death canre thotigh within a few minutes after the messengers had gone Deceased was well-known about town. He was a moulder by trade and was an excellent workman. He had a mind and kind heart. He was a member of the Catholic church. CONFERENCE ON IlSiiO. Austin Yesterday Esteemed Womm or Nnth Charlotte Passed A ay Yes terday at 3:30 p. m.—Was Native oj Union County, Mrs. M. E. Austin, wife of Mr. H. L. Austin, died at her home in North Charlotte yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock after an illness of some dura tion. She was in the 56th year of her age and is survived by her husband and seven children- who live in Char lotte with the exception of two sons, one of whom lives in Texas and the other in the state of Washington. Mrs. Austin, before her marriage was a Miss Watkins, and was reaired in Union county, w'here she became a member of Hopewell Baptist church 35 years ago. She was a charter mem ber of the North Charlotte Baptist church and a most consistent and de vout Christian. She was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her and her death brings sorrow to many friends. The funeral services will be con ducted at the North Chairlotte Baptist church at 3 p. m.' today and will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. S. F. Conrad, assisted by Rev. J. C. Gilles pie. The interment will be in Elm wood cemetery. Hou6c and Rev. T. A. Sykes At Tiyon St. Church The congregation at Tryon Street Methodist church had the pleasure of hearing a most helpful and inspiring sermon from Rev. T. A. Sykes, of the North Carolina Conference, yes terday morning. Mr. Sykes is a son of Mr. C. B. Sykes, of this city, and before entering the ministry was a w^ell known printer and mail carrier here, and his many friends heard him with pleasure, noting the success that has attended his ministry.
