New Orleans, Sept. 21.—Cotton fu
tures opened barely steady, 1 point
down to 1 point up. Cables were in
different. The w^eather map indicated
unsettled weather nearly every
where In the cotton belt with con-
sioerable rain. This was unfavorable
and w'ould have caused a higher mar
ket but for an accumulation of sell
ing order* over night, principally from
the interior. During the first half
hour of business commission houses
were the principal sellers and prices
were put 8 to 10 points under yes
terday's close. All months made new
low levels for the session.
With prices at a net decline of 9
to 10 points shorts took profits free
ly and the market did better on the
demand. Around the middle of the ^gne continued extremely feverish and
morning offerings of contracts were unsettled,
very slender, although it was said
that the interior was offering spots
very freely here and at prices to
