News Want Ads are quick, result* ful and Inexpensive. ’Nuf ’ced. One Cent a Word officers swom with itsenfor cement to see that justice is done.” This is the way Assistant District Attorney Ford outlines his position to ward labor organizatioBs: “Organization has undoubtedly been of benefit to labor. But some times the ambitions of iadividual -leaders to retain their leadership in .the ranks of labor has led them to resort to crime and violence to achieye results for a strike and justify their.masfigs- ment thereof, and by much action lead to their retention. They conceal their participation from the rank and file in the organization. This conceal ment is easily accomplished as tie finances necessary can be charged to “organizing purposes” without giving- the details. to the general member ship. . ■ “The acts of such men are not only Inimical to the best interests of so ciety but are a gross fraud upon unionism. The best interests of or ganization labor require that they purge their ranks of such leaders and no friends of the laboring man would advise them to Identify their use with the defense of criminals.” These two men—Fredericks and Ford—will be the chief directors of the state’s case against the McNam ara brothers. In the county office will be assisted by Deputies Arthur Veitch and Hill, and Attorney E«, Ver- milyca has been retained td assist them by the widows of the killed in the October 1 disaster. Vermllyea has bad a wide experience as a prosecu tor and was formally district attorney has bee of Inyo county, California. His fee has been raised entirely by the wid ows. Preparations for the holding and handling of the trial here have been under way for several months hefe. Judge Walter Bordwell, who is to hear the case, has decided that the trial will be held in hie new Hall Records building. The court room in this build ing has not yet been selected but it Is probable that the larg^ist room in the building will be used. Sheriff W. A. Hammel has charge of the policing and lias arranged that the two pris oners and McManigal will nOt bs tak en back to the jail after the proceed ings of each day. Under the present plan the two brothers will be kept in the jury room during the night; and the district attorney has arringAd for McManigal to have quarters near to the district attorney’s floor or rooms They will be closely guarded during the entire trial an^ any attempts ' Of rioting will be promptly checked. Mc- court tappear inthe aMa nilrs Manlgal .will not appear in the cojirt room except to give his testimony and upon , those days the ^ard will be doubled. It is claimed that threats have been made that McManigal will not take the witness stand. Although not believing that any such threats would be carried out District Attojriaey Frederlcjks'is prej^red to take every precaution. ' Admissions and Ressrved Seats will be on sale at Bowen's Drug Store, on Circus Day at exactly the same prices chargsd on Show Grounds. Atbmta (kfrrespontknts Not Unjair to Joe Brown Special to The News. Atlanta, Oct. —Georgia editors of the state prSss, particularly those who have a strong leaning toward the Joseph M. Brown candidacy, have been entering serious complaint editorially that Atlanta correspondents never s.eem to send out any news about anybody in the race but Pope Brown and Judge Richard Russell. They complain that a deliberate ef fort is being made to ignore “Little Joe.” But the reason for the dearth ol Joe Brown vhews in Atlanta is due to no such political scheming. It is due purely and simply to the fact that there isn’t any Joe Brown news in Atlanta. Pope Brown and Judge Rus sell have both established public headquarters here, with campaign, managers in charge. These managers are continually receiving visitors and Isisulng statements. Pope Brown and Judge Russell are ,both making niim- eroug seeches. So are their respeo^ tive friends. - The speeches lure being talked out. *Oh the other hand, f^ormer G^over- nor Joseph Brown has opened no lieadquarters here. He is making no political speeches. He is not yet writ- itig any cards, and has not Indicated .when his headquarters will open. J. 1^, Smith, of Atlanta, who .w^ill be Joseph M. Brown’s campai^ mana-. ger, has not yet entered actively on his duties and has not become a new^ source. " As soon as Joseph M. Brown opens up a headquarters and gets actively into the race the, situation will prob ably change as regards news. New York Money. “ New York, Oct. 7.—Clos^: Prime mercantile paper 4 8-4 per cent.
