Manchester, of Converse College, who gave a lecture-'recital at the Y. M. C. A. last night and his pianist, Mr. R. H. Simjpson. The dinner was served at the Manufacturers’ Club and thoroughly enjoyed by all who participated. MRS. WINGFIELD^ ENTERTAINS. This afternoon at 3:30 Mrs. A. B. Davidson Glee Club Mediocre Last Nighi Last night at the Presbyterian col lege the Davidson College Glee Club gave a mediocre recital to a poor house. The orchestra w’ork w’as good and the solo sung by Mr. Cartledge was fair but the selection of the musi cal numbers for the whole performance were unfortunate. They did not in any way represent the life of a college and had usually the dignified sound that Is never found in a college community. There was no snap to any part of the performance except the “Ocean Roll” and the “Fast March” played by the orchestra. The club had a chance to star on their encores, the selections of which were rather good but they were not capable. PROGRAM Part 1. “Alda” selection by the orchestra “D. C. D.
