New York, Dec. 29.—'Therte should be some fine openings for young base ball players in the big league teams this year, for it now appears that most of the managers will have to de pend on recruits to Improve their po sitions in the pennant races. No big de&ls have been made and there are none in sight.- With the present line-ups of the big elagues it looks as though there would be no change in the finish of the pen nant races next season unless through the help of new comers. Mo&t of the big team scouts are san guine over prospects and declare that the opportunity for getting good new players is imrovlng right along. A year ago the opposite was generally understood—the coiintry had been combed for star players. FURNITURE MAKERS ASK COM MISSION HELP IN F4GHT.
