He is 21 years of age, and a brother of Mrs. R. G. Spratt, of SKULL CHI BY FALLING TREE -Hi WILL DIE William Fox, a young man of 19 years, son of Mr. S. T. Fox, of Le noir, was brought to Charlotte yester- day afternoon on tne worioiK-boutn-ern in an unconscious condition, and taken to the Presbyterian hospital, where he has been attended by Drs. Strong and Moore. He. was struck by a falling tree and his skull crush ed so badly that no hope is held tor Ms life. An operation was performed . last night, but with no beneficial results the man never having regained con sciousness after being struck by the tree. He was at work felling trees at Cabarrus, a small station on the Nor folk-Southern. As the tree fell it struck him with, from present indications, fa tal results. The man or boy, rather was put on a cot and brought here yes terday afternoon by Mr. Lindsay, for whom he was working. The boy s fata er was wired and was expected here today but he could not come, sending his brother instead. The boy left home some weeks ago to make his own way. and had landed at Cabarrus where he became a forester. Everything possible is being done to save his life, but tne doctors nave no hope for him, his skull being so terribly crushed.
