Circle ‘K’
Seeks New
Members
Last month Circle K took on
the job of binding and distribut
ing the long-awaited Student Di
rectories after the adnndnistration
failed to put them out Fall
Semester as promised. Another
service project is the weekly
publication of the University
Newsletter, and before the days
of pre-registration, the club op
erated the “close-out” board for
frustrated students.
“We’re not all work and no
play,” Scott added. “We are
planning now for the Carolina’s
District Convention and are look
ing forward to the International
Convention which was in Miami
last year. So, we work hard and
have a good time, too.”

Student Party Meets Today To Pick Candidates
Today the Circle K Club will
hold a coffee hour in the Univer
sity Union in order to meet male
students interested in joining the
organization. Scott MacMillian,
President of the club, said that
Circle K now has more hard
workers than in the past, but that
the club is always interested in
new members with new ideas.
The purpose of Circle K is to
carry on a variety of activities
which will be of value to the
University and, at the same
time, give members an opportu
nity to develop their leadership
abilities. Initiative and responsi
bility are key words in the
organization.
This year, as in the past.
Circle K ran a Book Exchange to
enable students to buy and sell
used books at reduced rates.
“Many students consider this to
be a money-making project,”
Scott said. “But the Exchange
often represents a financial losS
to the club. The average charge
for handling each book (maxi
mum—50 cents) is meant to cov
er the expenses encountered in
running the project and there
has rarely been a profit.”
The Student Party will meet in
C-122 today from 11:45 to 12:15 to
nominate candidates for the
Spring elections. Members are
urged to attend this important
meeting.
