Gamer added that tickets would not be sold at the door and he advised all those planning to attend to pick up tickets in the Union Wonderful Songs Make You Croak Along With Caton BY FRANK CATON Where would we be without all the wonderful songs that have been written down through the ages? To be technical, we would simply be without all the wonderful songs that have been written down through the ages; however, that’s not what I meant. I mean songs are usually written about a particular situation or problem that we can identify with. The best example of this is Country and Western type songs. The singer sings through his nose by ear. The sadness of the song is dependent upon the situation. The singer has either lost his dog, his' horse, or his girl. If it’s a realy sad song, he may have lost all three. Popular songs, on the other hand, do not fall into such cut and dried catagories. They seem to cover the problems of modem living quite thouroughly. There’s just one important area that has been neglected. I can’t call to mind very many songs about college life and its problems. College students have their own special problems which most popular songs of today do not cover. We have such problems which College students have tiieir own special problems which most popular songs of today donotcover. We have such problems as tests, themes, term papers, finals, and failing grades. With these problems in mind, I have attempted to alleviate the situation. The following songs are for you, the student, to identify with. I do not write music, so I have borrowed some familiar tunes and changed the words to fit the situation. YOU MAKE ME FEEL SO DUMB (Sung to the tune of “Ybu Make Me Feel So Young”) You make me feel so dumb. You make me feel like my time has come. And every time you give a quiz, I’m at such a loss for words. The moment I start to write I can’t tell black from white I want to go and ask a friend just where it all will end. You ask me, what happened in ’83? I tell you, I would write it down if I only knew. You make me numb. You make me wish the bell had rung, yes that wonderful bell had just rung. And even when I’m old and gray I’ll remember this quiz that you gave today, ’cause you make me feel so dumb. I’M GOING TO SIT RIGHT DOWN AND WRITE A LIL’OL TERM PAPER (You Know this tune. I’m sure) I’m going to sit r^t down and write a lil’ol term paper. And make believe it’ll be approved by you. I’m going to write words oh so sweet, they’re going to knock you off your feet. A lot of footnotes at the bottom. You’ll be glad I got ‘em. I’m going to smile and say the conclusions are all my own, and that they just happen to agree with yours. I’m going to sit right down and write a lil’ol termpaper, and pray so hard that you’ll give me an A. (Would you believe a B?) M-^-T^ (To the tune of L-O-V-E) M is for the mess you’ve made of me. A is for the awful things I see. T is for the transform, just what the heck is a transform. H is for help that I must have to pass this course, and math is one course that I beseech of you. Not just one semester, would you believe two? Oh, those poor Engineer’s, they must take math for years and years. Oh, math, what have you done to me. LABS FOR SALE (To the tune of “Love For Sale”) Labs for sale. I’m advertising old lab reports for sale. I have labs done just last year Psych., Zoo., and Chem., all right here. Labs for sale. Who will buy. Who would like to sample my supply. Who would like to pay their way for a trip to an easy A. I’ve got labs for sale. JUST ONE OF THOSE FINALS (To the tune of “Just One Of Those Songs”) It was one of those finals you have now and then. You were passing last week, but it looks like the end. The questions looked easy, the answers came hard. Now, who could forget that most famous of bards? You studied and studied and burned midnight oil. But now it appears you’re just one of life’s foils. It looks like you’ll be taking this course once again. ‘Cause of one of those finals you have now and then.
