The contest, sponsored by the staffs of the Rogues ’n Rascals and The Carolina Journal, will continue for another month, so it’s still not too late for the thicker- bearded boys to get in the competi tion for the grand prize. On December 6, the contestants, dressed in full 49’er regalia, will congregate in the Parquet Room for judging procedures at 12 noon. Mr. Eric Anderson of the Art Department, Mr. Brenton Steele, Director of the Union, Joseph Slechta of the French Department, and Dr. Newell Bush of the Foreign Language Department also will serve as judges for the contest, based on criteria set up by the two sponsoring staffs. fold purpose. First, it would give you men an opportunity to have lunch and conversation with mem bers of an organization which is composed entirely of businessmen. Secondly, we have heard and read about the lack of Interest many Library Seeks To Improve Service Materials and services in the li brary exist for the benefit of stu dents and faculty. Continually seeking to improve services, suggestions are welcomed from all users of the library. The sug gestion box on the circulation desk is the receptable for requests for materials and for comments con cerning improvements in service. This system is one of many through which the library seeks to keep in touch with interests and needs of students and faculty, thereby improving services. Suggestions for purchases have been referred to the acquisitions department. Not only requests for new materials, but requests for duplicates are welcomed. One comment from the sugges tion box concerns excess noise on the first floor of the library. The PR-Z room on the second floor has been designated as the “quiet study’’ room. Those who need a quiet place to study, one where study will be undisturbed should go there. Students are requested to be considerate of others studying on the first floor and in the Serials and Documents Room and to keep conversation volume low in those areas. Librarians are usually thought of in terms of “guardians of books’’ and “shushers.” The Atkins Li brary staff is trying to overcome this unfortunate image by keeping rules to a minumum while at the same time assuring equal access and services to all on the Ccimpus. Judging from the response of tlie audience, it will probably not be the last.’’ And in Fresno, the “Fresno Bee’’ said, “Its forte is ensemble play ing, meticulous, crisp work from all sections, and it is a hard blowing group.” The Airmen of Note, continued the article, “. . . had the folks in Convention Center Theater tapping their feet in pure delight.” Abrams Lectures To SNEA college students have concerning venturing into American business.
