Improve Service A project designed to stimulate and motivate children from de prived homes, which began last summer at UNC-C, will be car ried into the winter. Project Opportunity is designed to moti vate those students who have not reached their full capabilities, due to the environmental conditions to which they are subjected. Working with Mr. Chris B. San ford, principal of Irwin Ave. Jr. High School, the program was originated last summer, when 30 students attended classes directed by faculty members here, for a three week period. The curriculum is designed to bring the child to a proficient reading level, by building his vo cabulary. Speech and pro nunciation are other areas in which remedial work will be done. She said that the amphitheater was designed ultimately more for musical productions rather than for theater. The UNC-C Fine Arts Building soon to be under construction will provide facilities tor theater. Dr. Cone led a group of students and other Charlotteans on a trip to Rochester, Michigan in July of 1966 to see an outstanding amphi theater on the campus of Oakland University. Among officials who accompanied her on the trip were John Belk, chairman of the Bi centennial Committee and Jack Blythe, president of Blythe Brothers.
