The students were served cake and punch by several campus co eds and were introduced to the ex isting thirty-three members. A de- monsteation table was also set up to explain the campus activities including both the social and pro fessional aspects of Alpha Kappa Psi. Atkins Library. This exhibit is his first Charlotte exhibition. The pn^ram tor the second annual New Arts Festival was planned and arranged by a com mittee consisting of co-chairmen Bobbe Berry and Allen Wentz and numerous other interested stu dents and faculty. Many art objects created by students were entered last Fri day in the Student Art Compe tition and the final judging was done Monday, April 1. As of this writing, the winner was not an nounced. The winner will be an nounced in next week’s Journal. An important part of the Fes tival this week is the produc tion of “Waiting for Godot’’ by the Fine Arts Department. The play, to be presented April 4, Sand 6 at 8:00 in C-200, features John Hostetter as Estragon, Paul At well as Vladimir, Rc«er Oross- wald as Lucky, Gerry Dionne as Pozzo, and Tom Carmody as the Boy. Others involved with the pro duction are Catherine Nicholson, the director; Richard Gantt de signer; Sue Garrett, stage mana ger; and Barbara Smith, assistant director. Hank Heidenreich was voted presi dent. He is a rising senior and a political science major. Vince Batts was elected vice- president of the organization. Vince is a senior chemistry major. Gene Herman, a senior political science major, was elected to the office of secretary, and freshman Ron Caldwell was elected trea surer. "The purpose of the Young Democrats Club is to give the Democratic students on campus a chance to support their party. We invite the support of all interested stidemts,” Heidenreich com mented. The drive to intrease member ship is being headed by Butch Smith. Ben Chavis was appointed by the presidentelect to be chair man of the Publicity committee. The first meeting was high lighted by the introduction of Mr. Ed Graham. Mr. Graham is a student who is state co-ordina tor for the confederation of Demo cratic College Students.
