Page 4 The Carolina Journal October 23, 1968 Six Named To Who’s Who Bob Lemmond Stewart Auten Carolyn Campbell ■vi.-' \ Earl Baucom Student Activities Committee Selects Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities was created in 1934 to recognize and reward college students for their achievements. This national organization accepts those students who have been chosen by their college or university on a basis of scholar ship, citizenship, participation, and leadership in academic and extracurricular activities, and general prornise of future usefulness to business and society. The nominees from UNC—C are chosen by the Students Activities Committee, which is made up of students, faculty, and adminstrators. Those selected are currently members of the Junior and Senior classes of any of the 800 United States colleges and universities classified in the Educational Directory. The certificate of recognition awarded by the organization will be presented to each new member on Award Day before an assembly of the student body. This year twenty-six students, twenty-two seniors and four juniors, were chosen to represent the Charlotte branch of the University. Geographically speaking, four of the nominees hail from Concord, one from Kannapolis, one from Mount Holly, and twenty from Charlotte. Phil Wilson, John Lafferty, Dwayne Spitzer, and Bill Billups are repeaters from last year’s list.
