GARY HENDERSON APO Sponsors Contest Alpha Phi Omega announces a service project: “Back A Forty-Niner ('ontest.” According to Activities Committee (’hairinaii, Jerry Hammond, the aiiilcsl is designed to promote school spirit for the Forty-Niner basketball team. Different clubs and organi/.ations, following regulations established by APO and adhering to the publicity rules set by the SGA, will be competing to upgrade .school spirit. The contest will begin officially on November 25 and will terminate on December 7. The competition will involve poster canvassing, c h e e r I e a din g, providing transporlation and participation III nuinhers of backers present at the live games during this period, lliere are three home games at Harrisburg and two away games at (liceiisboro. The judges for the contest will be the basketball team. No one knows as yet just what prize awaits the winner. But, aside from that (act, Hammond says, “wc hope the contest will involve almost all the student body." Ilaniiiiond told the JOURNAL that all organizations, even the (our different classes, are urged to participate. Alpha Phi Omega’s objective of the contest is to “add greatly to campus student life and unity,” Says Hammond, it’s “for a common goal-school spirit.” Posters cannot be put up until November 25, and all posters must be removed by December 10. Alpha Phi Omega encourages all students to participate in this important service project.
