Games Tournament Dan Ewing Wins Bowling Crown The Association of College Unioris-International Tournaments were held on campus last week on February 21, 22, and 23. Ten colleges participated in the various games which included chess, billiards, bridge, table tennis, and bowling, UNC-C proved to be so successful as a ccntrai/.cd campus for the participating schools that the tournament may be held here again next year. The three days were busy ones for the players. They met many new people, spent long hours over bridge tables, bowling lanes, tennis tables, pool tables, and chess boards, and attended the Green Garter Coffee I lou.se. riic chess tournaments were the only ones that began Thursday night. A general meeting of the players was held Friday morning at 8:00 after which all games began. UNC-C was the only participating school to enter all events. The results of the tournaments were as follows: Mens bowling: 1st place team 2nd place team 1st place in doubles 2nd place in doubles 1 St place iii singles 2nd place in singles 1st place in overall events 2nd place in overall events V. The people who organized the Region V 196d tournaments were Gail Clay oi U.T., Dean McKay, Howard Winnamen, and Bob Welch of LINC-(' Black Caucus Promotes Unrest By R.T. Smith 11 No \/ietnamese Ever Called Me m, Nigger ^ IWre- Now what? The UNC-C “black caucus” has now come out in favor of the War in Viet Nam. They have taken sides with the communist forces in Southeast Asia on the strength of the idea that no Vietnamese has ever called them “niggers.” That’s really rich, you know? This “black caucus” has done more on the UNC-C campus to promote animo sity between the races than any other organization or non-organization. This group is the personification of racial hatred and bigotry. All they can think is black. They automatically ascribe poor attitudes to every white person they meet. It isn’t helping. So many people on this campus are doing every thing that they can to help equalize racial attitudes, but the black caucus is pulling the races apart. But isn’t it neat the way they wear all black? And wasn’t that a real keen black flag that they hoisted up on the flag pole one fine day? This is certainly no manifestation of the humanist ideal of brotherly love - that’s not what they want. They just want to take over. “We support the revolution.” They support any revolution, as long it causes confusion and disharmony. Is this the attitude of the blacks on this campus, or is it just the feelings of those who can shout the loudest? I invite a reply from someone who knows. THE JOURNAL is looking for photo lob technicians and advertising salesmen. Any organization is welcome to sell ads at a 10% commission. Fraternities and other organizotions stand to make some money here.
