Present was Big Brother Sammie ^^Gnff who was in charge of the scrollers. Dean Donald McKay welcomed the Fraternity to the University 3 ^pressed his desire to help it in any way ^“S'R^marks the first predominatly Wack Fraternity on the campus of UNC-C. Even though this is a predominatly black frat^ity, the Chapter here on campus is integrated. The mood was great. Everyone could listen, laugh, then almost cry. Everyone was together. We all came out because we cared. We cared about a young G.I. dving lonely 13,000 miles from home. We cared about (his parents losing a child that they had watched grow into a young man, only to have his horizons shattered. In short, we came out because we cared about our brothers. SNEA at UNC-Charlotte has organized a project m which you and all other interested stedents can have the chance to work with culturally and economically deprived ^ All around school on the B^]|etin boards are “Fill Your Bag” posters. That s what you can do by working in this project. A minimum of two hours a week on your p^ cm ^em great deal this year to a child who emnot read snell or do any one of a number of other seerningly easy things. Anyone interested in teaching and anyone who would sincerely like to help these children should consider this project. You would work clogy with a child or a small group of chUdren assisting them to master thmgs ^yii^ trouble^ These children need this mdiyidual attention which, in the average schoolroom situation, their own teacher cannot spare ^'^TWs tutoring program will be functioning at Villa Heights Elementary School and at Piedmont Junior High. Also, help is needed at Bethlehem Center and at 4h® , Memon^ Hospital Rehabilitation Center. Althou^ project gets under way th^ week, it is stiU i^ too late to get involved.
