Kappa Sigma heads softball all-stars By David Watson In what appeared to be an attempt at monopolization. Kappa Sigma placed four players out of fifteen on this year's Intramural Softball All-Star team as selected by CAROLINA JOURNAL sport staff. Selections were made by the sport's staff along with the consultation of Coach Kerr. "No hands" Fleming Coach Paul (Zippers.) Also selected was an Intramural All-Star Team made up of the seventeen boys thought to have exemplified the most versatility in this years' eleven intramural events. second place with Kappa Sigma which placed Thurmond Willis, Reid Carter, Dick Lolb, and Rusty Sitton on the roster. The fifteen man team roster reads as follows: Dick Loeb, Reid Carter, Eddie Sherrill, and Rusty Sitton (Kappa Sigma); Lane Alexander, Joe Turner, and Dave Barden (Old Timers); Tommy Curlee, Randy Freeze (Wrestlers); Pete Donahue (Chi Phi); Joe Briggs (Outhouse); and Selected from the Engineers were Tommy Poteat and Randy Gaforth who have guided their team to a demanding lead in the overall point standings. Other selections include: Joe Turner, Lane Alexander, and Roddy Kerr (Old Timers); Jerry Blevins and Dale Lands (Hockos); George Lloyd and Dave Taylor (Chi Phi); Joey Howeel and Mike Wade (Theta Psi); and Bill Bridges (Hockos). Larry Haulsee was the only representative of APO, currently tied for The All-Star Teams are only a small exemplification of the ability and hustle showed by the boys who accounted for a most successful intramural season. Alpha Kappa Caps Undefeated Season Kappa Sigma posted a 14-4 victory over Alpha Kappa Psi to cap an undefeated season and highlight last week's intramural softball action. In other action, the Hockos bested the Wrestlers 10-6, as did the Zippers and the Old Timers by scores of 13-3 and 13-4 respectively. In a make-up game. Alpha Phi Omega toppled Alpha Kappa Psi 15-3 to take ver fourth place in the fraternity o. ion and earn a spot in the tournament. Tournament play opened on Monday, May 11, with the top four teams in each division as participants. Kappa Sigma and the Engineers, who also finished 4-0, figured to be the favorites although any of the other six teams are capable of pulling upset wins.
