page eight/the journai/october 10,1972 Sant Kirpal Singh Sant Kirpal Singh...in seeing this name one might picture an Arabian or Egyptian and perhaps even come to the conclusion of a gourmet dinner. Yet, he is somewhat of a religious philosoper who presented his topic "The Mystery of Death" Wednesday October 4, at Rowe Recital Hall. A "Sant" in a real sense is one who is established as a "perfect man" with omniscient experience of outer and inner life aspects. A "Master"...interested in a whole knowledge of himself. One entered Rowe Recital into an atmosphere of blissful silence. As he looked to the stage, he observed a long table fully covered in tapestry with a golden velvet stand placed in the center. He also found himself surrounded by those in some way connected with the Sant quietly meditating...eyes tightly closed, erect posture, hands folded discreetly as if to portray an imagery of grasping the deep thoughts in their minds. Some were wrapped in blankets formed about them like the cloaks that monks wore, adding a rather medieval touch. Suddenly, the "blissful silence" unfolded as the "Master" appeared- a small, gray bearded man with a white turban upon his head and dark coat about his slightly slumped shoulders. Some stood up reverently, while others looked on bewildered until he took his place on the stage. In introducing the Sant, an associate of his spoke saying, "Death is a wall, a reap into nothingness- a great mystery. What does it all mean? How can it be made consistent with everyday life?" He motioned for Sant Kirpal Singh to begin his talk, which he did, but the "Mystery of Death" still remains a mystery, for his speech was quite indistinct and was difficult to comprehend. Only small snatches were gathered here and there such as "Man must learn to die so that he may begin to live" or "He that findeth his life shall lose it, and he that loseth his life shall find it." The Sant also emphasized that man must face death on his own; "By contacting Light and Life by barby hammond Principles or God within the laboratory of the Man body; We can draw upon the 'bread and water of life,' rise into cosmic awareness and gain immortality." Perhaps this is inconceivable; yet, there was a certain penetrative air making one feel unfortunate In his lack of perception of this man's aesthetic idealism. If by chance one wants to gain a better knowledge of himself, the Sant might possibly be a lead. THE GRAPEVINE Q. There is absolutely no place to park a motorcycle at the new dorm where It will be out of the rain, etc. I have to park mine under Moore in order to keep it from being bombarded by the elements. If you could in some way look into the possibility of building a covered shelter for this purpose, the residents of Dorm '72 and next year those of Dorm '73 would appreciate this very much. It is a great Inconvenience to have to park so far away from the dorm. Meredith V. Davidson, Jr. 1113 Dorm'72 A. The Ways and Means Committee has found that there are no Immediate plans for building shelters for motorcycles. According to Jerry Hudson, head of security, motorcycles will have to be parked on the back porches of Sanford and Moore Halls for the time being. However, Meredith, if anything should develop along these lines, I will be sure to contact you. Other items that have been discussed in Committee include: Housing Contract: Roy Davis, housing director, is making recommendations for minor changes in the housing contract. A basic objection from dorm students concerning the contract is the fact that members of the SB I and the FBI can enter the dorm rooms unannounced. However, Mr. Davis, as well as the University as a whole, has no control over this action. So Mr. Davis will not be able to assure dorm students, through the housing contract, absolute At last.... contraceptives through the privacy oF the mail.
