Page nine/Carolina Journal/February 20, 1979 Nazi plans include new headquarters By Mark Matheson This is the last of a four-part series featur ing an interview with Harold Covington, a member of the North Carolina National Socialist, or Nazi, party. Well, exactly how do you plan, other than run ning for public office and printing materials, are you planning any TV spots, etc. to educate whites? I would love to. If we get the money. It's all a matter of money. Money is our hang-up here in this state, money and that's it. I'm sure I could have 100 men, in side of three months, marching down the street in uniform. Give me a year, and hell, I could have 300 within the Stormtroops. When we get a proper head- quarters, we are going to form a stormtroop detachment, we'll start having public paper sales, this sort of thing; start running firearms familiarizations for whites, self-defense courses for the kids in the schools. All these things the stormtroops will take over. Before that we'll have to get a proper head- quarters with flags out, get ourselves firmly established, start hav ing regular weekly meetings; all that takes money. This facility here is just not suitable for meetings. If we ever get any money behind this movement, the Jews and Liberals are in trouble, because there are millions of Americans who sympathize with us. In our Marquette Park rally last July, we had 5,000 whites cheering. I've heard a recording of that thing, thunderous cheering, it sounds like Raleigh. People afraid to come out are and publicly associate with us openly. I lost my job when I ran for City Council. The Chamber of Commerce here, led by a gentleman named AR- nold Arriston, and I'll give you three guesses to his religious affilia tion, blacklisted me. He has passed the word that anyone who hires a before 1980 and I hope and think we can, we’re going to run Frank Braswell of Spruce Pine, for governor, although we don’t really expect to win. But we are going to make a serious attempt to win the 1984 elec tions. As part of those statewide campaigns, I'm going to put together a little booklet, it’s going to be called "A country. That guy really scared me. I don't know the theories of the assassination, or what the truth is behind the situation, whether the CIA knocked him off or what, or whoever did, but whoever did they did the country a service. Anyway, popularity con tests aren’t the way to base a sane government, because there are a lot of busing. That's one of the something out of the Third Reich. The JDL showed up and they had to run for their lives, not from our guys, but from the crowd. People are ready for us, they're get ting more and more ready, it's just money holding us back. Now, one of these days, we are going to get it! Is the NSPA planning any marches or demonstrations in the near future? Not yet, because we are not up to that level yet. We have a lot of quiet support. There is a great fear factor operating here in Inn-dulae Give me a year, and hell, I could have 300 within the Stormtroops ... If we ever get any money behind this movement, the Jews and liberals are in trouble . . . —Harold Covington National Socialist will be in trouble with the Chamber of Commerce. If you had carte blanche power to do so as the chief executive, would you create a dictatorship exactly along the lines of Hitler, or tailor it strict ly for American needs? Well, obviously we would have to tailor it for American needs. One of the things I'm going to do before the 1980 election—you see we’re trying to get our party on the ballot here in the state. Our whole strategy is called the six-year plan, and we are aiming to make a serious effort to win the 1984 elections. If we get on the ballot Nazi North REVIEW FASTER WITI CLIFFS NITES! GET CLIFFS NOTES HERE: BOOKSEULE R Carolina—What Would It Be Like?” I’ll describe our stand on the unemployed situation, the economy, our struc turing of government and the like. What we have now in this country ,is a bureaucratic oligar chy. Ideally the can didates are elected by the people. In other words, these elections we have now are four- year popularity con : tests. Special interest financing has rendered the whole thing mean ingless. We don’t have representative govern ment in this country. What we do have is a dictatorship that is smart enough to keep the mask on and not let people know it's a dic tatorship. The way we view Na tional Socialist govern ment, government should not be by popularity contests, because anyone like Kennedy can flash his golden smile and get elected. Kennedy was unscrupulous people who can bamboozle the masses, demagogues, etc. We believe in a type of government similar to the Third Reich, where responsibilities are given to those who prov ed themselves worthy of responsibilities. So you see a basic pro blem facing this society is a lack of moral character and backbone? A lack of all those, a lack of racial awareness, a lack of identity, a lack of community feeling, a lack of about every de cent characteristic; all this goes back to materialism. This materialistic economy and society we have here, we’re taught from birth to feather our nests, like pack-rats, with shiny objects, big Cadillacs, color TVs and washing machines, and electric—when I told people in Rhodesia (Zim babwe) that Amercians reasons America is mistrusted overseas now. We are acting like a lunatic nation, national ly speaking. It's like a guy who invades a party or a supermarket wav ing a gun around, and they say, what's he do ing that for? That guy's off his rocker. We are, as a society, we are un balanced. Do you think you're en titled to speak for white people? No. Not for the majori ty. But I think our vote totals, we’ve received over 8,000 votes in the Milwaukee School Board race (25 percent by an open Nazi can- ■ didate, a woman), Frank Collin received 22 per cent of the vote in the Chicago aldermanic elec tion, and I received 34 percent of the vote in the state senate race, Pat Braswell got 6.5 percent in Spruce Pine; in fact not since 1975 have we scored under five per cent of the vote in which we were on the ballot in an election. used electric toothbrushes, they laughed their fool heads off. They can't imagine that, they can’t imagine probably the worst potential dictator we that a government ever had running this would use forced school Are there any elected representatives now, or have there been? No, not in this coun try. The National Front, in Britain, has won some seats. In some countries, governments are philosophically favorable toward us, as in Chile and South Africa. Rhodesia is a complicated situation. We are planning for some Parliament seats and should have been in a position where we would have voted with the niggers (there are 50 European and 13 African seats) con stituting a blocking third, to bring down the R.F. government. Nazis and niggers voting in the same block, politics does indeed make for strange bedfellows. SOPHOMORES!
