Poge 2 THE CHARLOTTE COLLEGIAN Moy 30, 1955 Published monthly throughout the school year by the students of CHARLOTTE COLLEGE, Charlotte, North Carolina. Staff Editor Assistant Editor Business ManaRor Faculty Advisor John Kilgo Patsy Hartsell Kanela Maydanis Miss Mary Denny THANKS TO YOU ALL Well, it is hard to believe that 1 am editing my very last edition of the Chai lotte Collegian. I feel that I ought to pay tribute to a few people who have been instrumental in the publication of the Collegian. First off I would like to thank Louella Robinson for the part she has played in helping with the paper. Louella has really been great to write articles when they certainly were needed. All of the pictures in this year’s paper were taken by our fine photographer, Ronnie Austin. Ron nie does a wonderful job with his cameia and the Collegian really ap preciates his fine work. The position of assistant editor has been in the capable hands of Patsy Hartsell. Patsy has done very much in helping us have this paper. We might add that all of the typing has been handled by Patsy. In an organization such as this, you must have a person who is in charge. This position has been very capably filled by our wonderful faculty advisor, Miss Mary Denny. Miss Denny is certainly doing a terrific job with the newspaper, not only this year, but every year. We should all like to thank Miss Denny for the sincere job that she is doing. Well, there you have the people who have played vital roles in publish ing this year’s Charlotte Collegian. We all want to say that we hope you have enjoyed the paper this year, at least a little bit. THANKS TO OUR PRESIDENT All of us I’m sure want to extend our sincerest thanks to Don Payne for the great job he did this year. Don was surely a great President, and his leadership as instrumental to the entire student government. Don is married, works full time, goes to school, and acts as President of his student body. This is a busy schedule, and Don really handled it well. We say hats off to Don Payne for his terrific job. HATS OFF TO DANCE COMMITTEE The P^reshman-Sophomore dance was a huge success only because of the hard work of the Dance Committee. The Dance was held on May 14 at the Barringer Hotel. Martha Voyles was in charge of planning the dance and her committee consisted of the Freshman class officers, June Sherrill and Kanela Maydanis. June and Kanela did a top notch job addressing the invitations and they also worked very hard getting the refreshments together. Louella Robinson and Bill Foust de.serve a big round of applause for the help they gave. Martha w’orked very hard planning the dance to match the budget. W’e would like to thank Martha and her committee for a job well done. Jim Brady, Treasurer BACK THE OWLS I could not resist writing one more article on my very favorite subject—basketball. The teams we’ve had in my two year stay at Charlotte College were very good, but the students didn’t have time to back them. Next year the Owls are going to have another good team. Please, I’m asking this one last favor, don’t let the Owls down next year. Johnny Culp and Raeford Brown are two of the leading boys com ing back from last year’s team. Both boys are fine performers and I’m sure their teammates will be just about as good. Remember, the Owls need your support. BACK THE OWLS.
