Council Approves
Traffic Proposal
The student council is erect
ing roadblocks against free
wheeling drivers at Charlotte
College.
Beginning with the second
semester, all cars will have to
be registered.
And drivers must obey park
ing regulations.
The decision to put some
rules into effect was reached
at the October meeting of the
student council. The council
abo established a traffic coun-
mittee to publicize and enforce
the rules.
Proposed rules are;
1. Student-parking in the rear
of the Science - Engineering
Building constitutes a viola
tion.
(2) Parking in the bus lane
bv anvone will constitute a
violation.
(^) Parkine along the rtrlve
will constitute a violation.
(4) All oars will have to
be registered at a time to
be announced.
"Parking in the bus lane and
faculty’s parking area behind
the Science-Engineering Build
ing has posed the main prob
lem.” said Dr. Herbert Hichon-
bleikner, advisor to the traffic
committee.
Registered cars will have a
decal posted on the windshield.
Violations will result in fines.
The probable fine schedule:
$1 for the first violation. A
similar amount for the next
couple violations.
Traffic Committee Chairman
Clinton Canaday said, “The
fine may be stiffer. Students
persisting in violating the rules
—three or more times—prob
ably will not be permitted to
bring their cars on campus.”
He added:
“The faculty has agreed to
stand behind the committee by
withholding the grades of a
violator, if such an action be
comes necessary.
“And, if necessary, suspen
sion from school will be con
sidered.”
In a recent interview. Dr.
Hechenbleikner said. “The sit
uation has improved since the
student council’s decision. The
committee hopes it will con
tinue to improve so that fines
will not be necessary.”

The seven candidates for the crown are: Barbara
Blythe, Carol Holden, Brenda Long, Connie Marley,
Linda Mayhew. Flo Morrow, and Mary Sadler.
They were chosen in a student body election on
Dec. 4 and 5. The Social Committee wiU select from the
seven candidates a queen.
The Christmas Dance, an annual event, will be held
this year at Veteran’s Center at 1019 E. Morehead St.
from 9 p.m. until midnight.
Emcee Kapp Smith will introduce each of the seven
candidates. They will form a semi-circle in front of the
throne. Smith will then announce the Queen of the
Christmas Dance. A bouquet of roses will be presented
to her, and she will be escorted to the throne to be
