Losing a basketball game is never a pleasant expc'rience,
md for someone closely associated with the team and the
players it is doubly upsetting.
A cheerleader is supposed to be emotional about a game,
)ut slowly and surely the emotion becomes less and less forced
md becomes the real thing. She really cares if the team loses,
md she suffers through each misfortune that occurs and re-
'oices with each bit of good luck.
At the DlAC tournament in Rocky Mount the 49ers con-
iderated favorite', being the regular season champs with a
,)-l conference record, naturally everyone was optimistic that
this year they would return to Charlotte with the Tourney
trophy. In ;tead, perhaps as a foretaste of the Southern and
ACC Tournament upsets, the 49ers lost to Lynchburg College.
The unexpected was happening . . . defeat could be
^^en coming over the horizon. The emotion can be seen in
the faces, anger, hope, joy, dejection; the agony and the ec-
acy.
