C. : Section 1 That the bicycle ordi nances Nos, 73 and 77 respectively passed by the board on the llih day of September, 1S94 and on the 13fcla day of August, lb95 be and the same are hereby repealed. m - Section 2. And be it ordained by the commissioners for the town of Concord : That any one who shall ride a bicycle on any sidewalk withe in the corporate limits of the town of Concord, N- C shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and up?o conviction thereof shall be fined five dollars or imprisoned fcr ten days- . Not many months ago a very wealthy Cabarrus citizen passed from this to the world beyond. He was a bachelor and somiwhat ot a miser, but was very particular about his teeth and had spent several hundred dollars for a nw set. After the old man Had been laid out for burial, his brother bitterly opposed putting him away with all that amount of extravagance in his mouth, but his little son, the dead man's favorite and companion, put a change in the course of proceedings by saying that his uncle had told him tLat if he ever reached tnat bet ter world it would hi "by the skin ot his teeth." And upon this, con viction was conclusive; the old man was buried with his treasures. Sbe Swallowed n Hornet. Bridgeport, Conn., Sept. 25. Mrs. ,Mary Walters while eating a pear swallowed a hornet that had alighted on the fruit. In going down the insect stung her on the tonsil. Great pain followed and the throat was soon so much swollen that the woman could not swallow. Later she lost her power of speech. The swelling wa3 finally reduced, but all efforts made by Mrs. Walters to talk have proved l utile and the doctors fear she will never be able to use her yoice again. Will Build on East Depot.
