No. 9 township is indignant to
day, and from the meagre reports
from the section of Georgeville, in
all probability there was a hanging j
somewhere in that neighborhood.
A cure-all Indian doctor has been
n the lower part of the county and
had won the good will and patrons
age of many of our citizens by his
almost unprecedented and miracu
lous cures, but this esteem was
changed to hatred and indignation
by his horrible crime of Tuesday
afternoon.
We learn from parties from that
section that this famous doctor on
Tuesday called at the home of Mr.
William Barbee, who lives just this

Manufacturer's Record : The
mcyement of population southward
is assuming very large proportions.
Many tracts of land are beiog pur
chased for colonization purposes; and
hundreds, eyen thousands, of West
ern and Northern farmers are al
ready settling in the 8onth, These
are but the advance guards of a flow
of population which promises to be
a great as that which swept over the
Northwest fifteen or twenty years
ago. The influence upon Southern
advancementcan scarcely be appre
ciated now. It means a closer union,
a better acquaintance, a more uni
form development, a better and more
even distribution of wealth between
the sections, and the building up of
the whole country. For the South
it means a wounderful impetus and
a great increase in wealth and pop
nlation. The most enterprising and
progressive , counties and towns of
the South will secure the greatest
benefits from this new order of
things, What are you doing to turn
