press, from the first movements in
the direction ot fusion, raised a pro
test against it and many even have
threatened insubordination to the
"arrangements." It is too late to
stem the tide but it seems to us

granted license to practice law by
the Supreme Court of North Caro
lina on the 28th. The class is by
all odds theiaVgest that the Su
preme Court has yet graduated.
Sixty-one followers of Blackstone
competed for license, but of the
number seven failed to pass satisfac
