peculiarly tiirite womanly organs. Constant standing on the feet,'

Great Salt Lake Dryinp Up.
Now it is being observed ; that
Great Salk take is destined to be
no lake ;n time. Thirty years
ago, it is' said, it was 80 miles
long, now it is but 70. It has
decreased in width from 40 to 25
miles within the last 20 years.
The waning r away is probably
due entirely to drawing away ot
the waters from tributary j
streams, for purposes of irrigation.

Mistake in Labor Day. .
Monday was recognized as
"Labor Day," over the land but
the statutes of North Carolina
really designate Thursday as
Labor Day. It is regarded as a
mere clerical mistake, however.
Monday was evidently intended
and the statute will be apt to be
made to read accordingly at the
next session of the General Assembly.
NO CURE. NO PAY.

Lightning Strikes Like A Ballet.
Another singular . effect r. of
lightning is reported from near
Raleigh , on Tuesday, The bolt
killed a nesrro man in a wasron
of cotton. It took effect in the
: forehead and made a wound like
a bullet. It stunned another
negro and killed the mule to the
wagon besides setting the cotton
on fire.
A ldPE AND DEATH FIGHT.
Mr. W. A. Hines of Manchester, la.,
writing of his almost miraculous escape
from death, says: "Exposura after
measles induced serious lung trouble,
which , ended in Consumption. I had
frequent hemorrhages and coughed
night and day. All my doctors said I
must soon die. Then I began to use
Dr. King's New Discovery for Consump
tion, which completely cured me. I
would not be without it even if it cost
$5.00 a bottle. Hundreds have used it
on my recommendation . and all say it
never fails to cure Throat, Chest and
Lung troubles." Begular size 50c and
$1.00 Trial bottles free at Fetzers Drug
