My husband insisted on my trying Win e of

Modesty is the crowning virtue of American women. IHs the trait
that all mankind admires. A modest woman is the most pleasing of all
created things. Because of this becoming virtue thousands of women
prefrr to suffer untold miseries rather than confide their troubles to a
physician, and to even think of submitting to an examination is "revolt
ing. They can't get their own consent to an operation. Wine of Otrdui
permit? sensitive women to retain their modesty. With it they can cure
"female troubles" Lath; quiet of their own rooms. If special treatment
is required they' can write to the Advisory Department of the Chatta
nooga Medicine Co., and their letters will be promptly answered by
VIS icai OSF ' A3TSS EST.

A Good Story. .
Col. Charles Edwards, the
b reezy representative of the un
fettered West in Washington's
n owspaper correspondent circles,
is responsible for many of the
beso stories that' go' over the
country from the capital. One
that he tells, somewhat at his
own expense, is now being re
peated about town.
x "We have down in. pur coun
try, ''.says the Colonel, "what we
call roasting ears. I don't know
what you fellows call them, but
they are the finest .things pro
vided for the hungry Jiuman. I
would rather eat roasting ears
than to look at fife-works, - and
one day down in Texas when I
went to dinner' at the Eotel they
had some of the finest I ever
saw. I took one?, Xhen another.!
and finally absorbed four. When
I reached for the fifth one I no
ticed the fellow ' next to me
watching me pretty cldspjy, and
I said to him r 'My . friend, you
seem sur-prised: - I want to tell
4 '
you, that I think roasting ears are
the finest things in creation and
I would live on them for a
montl;.' That' fellow just
watched me bite into that fifth
ear of corn, vand then he drawled
out: 'Say, pjfrd.,- 'don't you
think "you coulL save about a dol
lar anda quarter a day if you
was to board at a livery sta
le?' "Washington Post.
Drying preparations simply
develop dry catarrh; they dry up
the secretions which adhere to
the membrane and decompose,
causing: a far more serious trou
ble than the ordinary form of
ca tarrh. Avoid ! all drying in
halants and usethat which
cleanses, soothes and heals. Ely's
Cream Balm is such a remedy
and will cure catarrh or cold m
the head easily and pleasantly.
All druggists sell it at 50c. or it
will be mailed by Ely Brothers,

that the winters have been ob
served to be rather periodical,
growing to a climax of severity
like last winter then starting
mildly again. Another indica
tion is that mild winters seem to
follow early falls and vice versa.
