The latest invention that we have noticed is the angelus, an instrument which takes the place of the musician at the piano or organ. The sheet music of course must be "fixed". The in strument is drawn up to the pia k or pipe organ and the sheet is put in to the angelus and the presiding party uses little but the pedal when wooden fin gers press the keys and produce music as faultless as if by an ex pert musician. It is said that there are but four of these in struments in the south, but if they come up to what is claimed they are destined to find great favor. What a comfort to parents who are so fond of music as to spend great sums of money to educate their daughters in music only to be deprived again when these daughters depart to enter, themselves, upon the sterner duties of life and drop the prac tice that was largely a parlor ac complishment. If the angelus proves a complete success let us slightly change the name to an-gel-for us. .'" We note from an interview tint Dr. Eilgo is very well pleased with the results ob tained by young women in Trinity college put. The same course of study is pursued and the young women seem to go go about their studies with a pleasing matter-of-fact way and a mental poise free from many of the little nervous freaks dis played among their own sex. The doctor's report of Trinity's success gives further room to ask why not educate those to gether who are to be mated and must learn the art of blending their lives into one or fail to at tain to. the highest marital bliss'. A Paris dispatch of the 21st says Capt. Dreyfus' health is im proving. It is his ambition to get reinstrated in the army though he should soon offer his resignation. It would be a vin dication. He said on the famous trial "I love the French' army" His is amazing loyalty. The Danger Point in Young Life The downfall of many men of 1 1 - IS oetjuimgiy guuu piiuuipies nitty be traced to their ventures in playing with fire. Knowing evil, they have coquetted with it in stead of avoiding it. Christians pray, with good reason, to be de livered from temptations, for the flesh is weak, ard it is by avoid ing temptations that some men preserve their, virtue and honor. is ii i the strongest Natural Lithia- water on the market and has the endorsement of the most noted physicians of the country as to its superiority over all others. C., April 24, 1603' Those who t seek temptations An extended clinical use of Har- have to be strongly armed if they would resist them. The trusted clerk or agent who goes wrong does not begin by com mitting a recognized crime. He first plays with fire in the shape of temptations. Some form of gambling it may be legitimate stock-buying first .tempts him. He uses at first his own money (nobody can object to that, ho argues), and by the time he has lost more than he can afford, he has become infatuated and sees an opportunity to recover. Then he "borrows" 'from his employer without mentioning the fact, and whether in this venture he suc ceeds or fails his doom is sealed. The ice once broken, he goes on' until at last he has lost all sense of honor, has stifled his con science and is ready to embezzle any amount or betray any trust to satisfy his consuming greed for gambling profits or to pro tect his unearned public reputa tion. This is no fancy picture. It is the story of the downfall of scores of defaulters and embez zlers who might have lived honest lives but for the first false step they made in playing with fire. Men who sacrifice honor in other ways begin in a small way generally. Curiosity, it may be, leads them into bad company. They do not intend to commit any wrong, but they want to s.ee something of "life," as it is called, and they venture into low enna." as a looker-on m Vi- Some of them become drunkards, though able at first to control their appetites for liquor and being thus led into a false sense of security; others are tempted into a life of vice, though they think they can conr trol their passions and have be gun dangerous associations with no other intention than to look on at others. It is a dangerous business, however, to thus play with fire.
