Tho Lexington Dispatch says: There is a gentleman of moans, one whom our people held iu high esteem, in Lexington who has a remarkably odd record, part of which he or any one could be justly proud. It is this: At no time ia his life did he ever own a pocket book, a pocket kn'fe, a watch or a pistol . He never smoked or chewed to bacco, never drank a drop of whiskey nor . swore an oath. Truly he is an exception to the general run of men. At tho Baptist Church. . . r Sunday was a day of more than usual interest in tho ser vices at the Baptist church, where a protracted meeting has been in progress during tho past week. At the Sunday School session at 9 o'clock Rev. B L Hoge addressed the pupils and teachers in a brief but impressive sermon, with the result of one profession of faith, and a goneral interest manifested by everyone present. Morning services opened at 11 o'clock with a good congrega tion, and after a spirited season of praise and prayer Mr." Hoge quoted his text from .1st Corl 1:26-27, Neglect of "Little Things." After an animated dis course of thirty minutes the ordi nance of Baptism was performed and the congregation dismissed. At 3 o'clock a testimony ser vice was held, at which the Spirit was present with marked exis tence, and tears of joy glistened in every eye. At 7:30 o'clock p. m., the au ditorium was filled to- overflow ing, many persons being obliged to take seats upon the edge of the platform. Rev. Mr. Hoge took his text from Matt. 16:27-28, the theme being 'The soul and its inestimable value." At the termination of an impressive discourse, tlirty-five persons presented themsolves for prayer and profession. These services will be contin ued during this week, at 3 o'clock in each afternoon and at 7:45 every evening, to which a cordial invitation is extended to all. On next Sunday the dedica tion of -the church will takp place. Dr. Charles A G Thomas, of Raleigh, will deliver the ser mon for the " occasion at the usual morning hour. The ser vice on that night at 7:30 will probably terminate the revival season. God has greatly blessed these 1 Wi-1 if i wUfe- B 5 B 4 KM M SSB CJfca. B vs' P. V::7B EEiEaK.
