IV-sr. when their daughter, Miss Jessie liost, was united in-marriage with Mr ' John Kay Boger, of Kannapolis. - The home was tastefully decorated w i t h ferns and the vows were spoken before jin improvised altar. The bride and groom -entered the liv ing room together and the ring eere mony >nf the Methodist Church was used, the ceremony being performed by Itev. AV. A. Jenkins, pastor of Central Meth odist Church of this city. The bride wore a lovely dres*> of tan charm.‘Um> and carried a-bouquet of pink Columbia roses. After the ceremony the guests were invited into the dining room where a salad course was served. Mr. and Mrs. Boger are spending their lioueym >on in a number of south ern cities. i Mr. and Mrs. Roger are members of prominent families,in the county and are popular with a wide circle of friends. Kerr Str Mr. Peck Host to Friends, One of the most delightful of the va rious Christmas social events this week 1 was the elaborate quail and chicken sup per sherved last evening by Air. and Airs. C. H. Peck in honor of a number of rel atives and friends. The supper was served at the home of Air. and Airs. Peck and was planned iu honor of the cab drivers employed by Air. Peck. The drivers and a number of other friends were present to enjoy the elegant supper. The dance hall of the club was artis tically and beautifully decorated for the dance, Christinas decorations predominat ing in the arrangement. Attractive fav or- were given during the dance, special ' number- being called for the presenta tion of the favors. About 73 couples were present for the dance, a number of visitor- being in the J city for the occasion. Mr. Faggart i- a popular young farm er of Cabarrus county and is the sou of Mr. and Airs. G. E. Faggart. Mr. and Airs. Aliss May Ala.-t read a well pre pared and most fascinating story of tlie lives of Stewart Trumbull contrast ing their work in a masterful way. Airs AlacFadyen' read a beautiful chapter 'from Ru.-kin "The Greatness in Art.” The subject matter was Ruskiu's best and it was perfectly presented. Mrs. Williams' “Life of Whistler.” as an art ist and fellbwman was splendidly read and showed much study and preparation. After this program delicious refresh ments were served by Misses White and Mis- Black. Mr. McLaurin Entertains. Friday evening at <5 o'clock Mr. D A. McLaurin. a leading contractor and builder" of the city, was host to his em ployees at dinner, at his home on North Kerr Street. A splendid dinner con sisting of turkey and accessories was served by Mrs. AlcLuurin, assisted by Mrs.'Lawrence Little. Mrs. Lewder and Mis- A’crsie Nash. About 23 persons wire present to enjoy the splendid hospitality of Air. McLaurin. The home was prettily decorated for the occasion, with evergreens and flowers. During the evening Airs. Little favored those present with a number of piano selections, which added much to the pleasure of the evening. At the close ~bf the dinner Rev. Lawrence Little pre sented to Mr. McLaurin a handsome fountain pen and pencil, as a gift from the employees of Air. Ale La ur in- Air. Little spoke of the good fellowship which existed between employer and employee, .voicing the sentiment of the donors. This is an annual affair with Mr. McLaurin: and the dinner of Fri day evening was in keeping with those on former occasions. '.Mrs. Coltrane Entertains. - Airs. L. D. Coltrane was hostess at a charming tea drinking Saturday af ternoon at her home on South Union Street, complimenting Mrs. D. A. Gar . rison, of Gastonia. Airs. Frank Dusch, of Norfolk, who was to have been an honor guest, was detained at her home in Norfolk by illness.
