Delegates from Gilwood are Misses Gertrude High and Gladys Johnson. £om<} of our young folks went to the conference at Davidson Sunday night. ; Mr. Robert Harris is at home from Chapel Hill University. He will spend the summer at home. There was a party given at the home of S. J. Hartsell Saturday night iu honor of Franklin Hartsell. who is at home from Craig. Mo., where he taught school last winter. Miss Virgie Harris will leave soon for California, where she will attend summer school. Miss Margaret Bradford is attend ing summer school at Davidson. We regret to note that Miss Daisy Emerson is on the sick list. The people of Gil wood have put in electric lights in the church. Some one entered the smoke house of Mr. John Williams one night last week and stole all of his meat. They f didn't leave hint enough for break fast. ONE UNKNOWN. FAITH. Mr. and .Mrs. John Bright, accom panied by Brs. Sarah Goodman, mo tored up from Charlotte to Faith late Sunday evening expressly to see \ en us. They said they had been reading his items so long in The Concord Times and Tribune and they also take the Salisbury Post and road the items in that also. They told us his wife and the lady with them was as pret ty as could be. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Robert son, a girl, June 10th. 10*27. Mrs. Robertson is a (laughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Barger. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Hoy Hume a daughter, June 11. 1027. Mrs: Bnrne is a daughter of Mr. Albert Brown, all of Faith. Mrs. T. L. Jones ami little son. Ar del. of Winston-Salem, have returned home, after spending a week here with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Linglo. Mr. Charley Earnhardt, one of* the good house carpenters, has movel in Hie town of Faifh in the beautiful pew residence where Ray McCombs had lived a few years, Herman Canup. of Kannapolis, is working at the carpenter trade with Jj. L. Earnhardt, the contractor. He comes and goes to his work in his car. Herman Deal is running John Gant's quarry while Mr. Gant is in the Salisbury Hbspital. He has a tine car and has his eyes on the pretty girls of Faith. Eliga Corn is working with Fink & Son, at the carpenter trade and has as pretty a girl as any of the boys. John Miller, one of the granite con tractors. has a fine truck farm. Harry Fink is a granite cutter. He and Leon Barger are running a quar ry of their own. Grady Jones is one of the best stone cutters in Faith. Peeler' and Fallette have opened up their new barber shop in Faith and £re doing business right along. Who says Faith is not growing? It now lias two barber shops. John Nance is one of the good stone cutters and is making good money. Gordon Brown is a champion hand driller for Brown & Bame. But they say he misses the drill so much and mashes his fist. Hermit Frick is a driller for Frick Bros, in their b : g fine quarry nearr Ivey Basinger's. \ Henry Fink is one of the best ear drivers. He was selected to drive the school bus from Faith to Granite Quarry. Cardcnn Hess, who works in the granite quarry for Tom Hess, has a mighty pretty girl, but they say she lives down about Richfield. Kagon Kuykendall is the best ball pitcher in Faith. He beat St. Paul’s Saturday. E. C. Broadway had corn tassels on June Oth on the Yost place. If you can beat that trot out your tassles. F. W. Crayton, who is building the Arcade Building near the postoffice in Salisbury, showed us over the build ing Saturday. They are now putting on tin* finishing touches. You just ought to see what a fine fire proof building it it. When we wet to be a | millionaire we will get him to build us one just like it to place our curios ities in. We got a fine dinner at Dutch Lunch No. 1 Saturday and saw a big crowd taking dinner. One crowd said they belonged with the show. The manager of the Dutch Lunch is ojie of the best and cleanest men in North Carolina. He is going to get rich because he is a friend to Venus. The farmers are all busy making their harvest at this writing. We are having some real hot weath er along now. Miss Lula Harris, of Kannapolis, spent a while Sunday evening with home folks. We regret to learn of the automo bile accident of our mail carrier, James Alexander, which occurred near the Smith filling station Sunday and. tore up his car. We are glad to note that lie didn’t get injured. Miss Louise Horton, of near Ro berta. spent Saturday night with her sister. Mrs. James Kee. Charlie Kiser, of Charlotte, spent a while Tuesday night with ljis par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kiser. Edd Alexander and little son, Lewis, spent Monday night with his brother, J. S. Alexander. Most of the people of our commun ity are attending the Olive tent meet ing. She surely did preach a fine : sermon Sunday night, not only that night but every night. Some of our young people have beep attending the tabernacle meeting in Mooresville. They are having a good meeting. The many friends of Franklin Hart sell were glad to see him back again front Fulton, Mo., where he has been in college for four years, and where lie graduated last June.
