THE Danbury Reporter. N. E. & E. P. PEPPER, Publishers. TERMS TO ANY ADDRESS : One year, sl, (i mo. 50c., 3 mo. 25. SEPTEMBER 28, ]«OS DANVILLE'S OPPORTUNITY. The talk of an electric line in Caswell county ought to be made to amount to something. A line opening up the tine timber sec tions ot either Caswell or Htokes counties would be a dividend-pay ing enterprise. Why not build a lino connecting the two and pass ing through Reidsville, where the trunkline of the Southern, the greatest developer of all the rail roads, can be tapped V Wealthy business men of Dan ville, Va., Rockingham and Cas well counties have been looking with longing eyes at the un developed resources of Stokes county for many years, and the day is not far distant when their plans will materialize. The building of an electric line from Danville through Caswell, Rockingham and Stckes, opening up a vast region of mineral, tim ber, and agricultural wealth, and a natural land of summer resorts and mineral springs, is Danville's opportunity. The project would be a blow from which Winston could hardly ever recover, as it would mean the diverting from the Twin- City the immense trade of the back country which has made her rich. Winston and Danville arc the leading and rival towns of the Piedmont section, but Dan ville, which is now behind, will easily asunne the leadership whet her chamber of commerce sees its chance. Next you ask us whether or not Cain's wife was of pure Adam's (Atlantic) Hesli, and if not what Hush she was. This is another irrelevant question. However, as your theory claims that Cain's wife was a beast, we will answer the question. We do not know any more about Cain's wife than the Bible says about her, neither do you. She is mentioned only one time in the whole Bible; and this is where it is said that Cain knew his wife. But notwithstanding she is mentioned only one time in the whole Bible, wo hesitate not to declare to you that she was of pure Adamic or human flesh. How do we know it? just this way: In second Peter 1:19, 20, 21, the Apostle in speaking of the Old Testament Scriptures and their writers, says that "holy men of God spake as they were I moved by the Holy Ghost." So it was the Holy Ghost speaking through these Old Testament writers or prophets and holy men. And this being the case it is not reasonable to suppose that the Holy Ghost made any mistake in selecting proper words with which to convey its or his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Rev. 22:18, It).) Now, my friend Timothy, you are trifling with serious things when you try to put teaching or words into the mouth of the eter nal God he did not toach or speak. And as a true friend to you we would admonish you to cut loose from this abominable stuff you have hitched yourself onto and do as Paul commanded Timothy of old : "Preach the word." (Second Timothy 4:3). Next and last, you ask us to describe the beast referred to in your letter of July 27th, and say that the perplexed writer soeios to he very silent on the subject. And so you hsk us to please perform the task assigned him. Then you add that the ground for your in quiry is found in Ex. 19:13. Now, Mr. Carroll uses this same verse to try to prove that there is a beast with a hand, and then he decides that the negro is that beast. And I we suppose that you think it menus the same thing, or you would not; have asked us to describe the ! beast mentioned in this verse. Well, we are glad to have the op portunity to describe the benst. But we feel sure that if you had been posted on this scripture you would have never brought it to our notice; for it is against you. In speaking of the mount, the Divine record says: There shall not a hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man. it shall not live, (Ex. 19:13). As already stated, Mr. Carroll uses this verse as one of the links in his chain of argument to prove that there is a beast with a hand, and that the negro is that beast. But it upsets his whole theory. For his chain of argument is no stronger than its weakest link, and we will take this link out of his chain and use it against him For there is nothing in it that proves that there is a beast with a hand, but just all in it to prove that the beast it mentions hid no hand, We observe that, b >th man and beast are spoken of in this verse, and that the word "hand" is to be understood or interpreted of the man and not of the beast; for the significance of the original Hebrew word translated "beast" here precludes the idea of the beast spoken of having a hand, as we shall see. Let it be remem bered that the Old Testament Scriptures were first written in the Hebrew language. That is the | Holy Ghost as it moved on the j Old Testament writers or holy men of old, caused them to select 1 certain Hebrew words with which to Convey its meaning to men. These words were written down nud constitute what wo call the Old Testament scriptures. Sin e then, this work has been trans lated irto various other languages and we have the common English version of it. And when we fail to understand just what is meant by any particular word or passage, as it stands in the English ver sion, if we have the moans or helps to enable us to go back and see what the meaning is in the Hebrew or original language, v e can often «»«■♦ very much light by doing so. Now in the English version, the word which is trans lated "beast" in Ex. and which Mr. Carroll says means a negro is "behemah" in the orig inal or liebiew liible. And now what ever meaning is attached to or included in this Hebrew won', will tell us just what kind of n beast it is Timothy asks us to de 1 Blind Headache "About a year ago," writes Mrs. Mattie Allen, of 1 Broadway, Augusta, Ga., "I suffered with blind sick iches and backaches, and could get no relief until I tried I TCARDUI A Non-Intoxicating Female Tonic l immediately commenced to improve, and now I feel like a new woman, and wish to recommend it to *1! sick women, for | know that it will cure yP ■ them as It did me,'' Cardui is a pure, medicinal extract of WHITE | 9 vegetable herbs, which relieves female H jy pains, regulates female functions, jy FREELY. j S e I . yy We vut 7M la Wrtti £ ® tones «p female organs to a /y »»ir*.'r aad iraakiy, deacrth- a , . So now referiing to I t, Young's analytical concordance to the Bible, which is considered a s audard •uthorty on the mean ing of Hebrew words, we find "behemah" to bo defined thus: "Cattle, quadruped." There is no other meaning attached to the word. Now, we asl. yon, Timothy, to tell the readers of the Reporter, in your nost letter, why it was that the Holy Uhoot when speak ing through the holy men of old made such a blunder or mistake us to select a word which means cattle or quadrupeds, when, as you claim, it meant to point out a beast with a hand, which you'say is the! negro. The fact of the mat ter is, the Holy Ghost made no mistake, but selected the proper word to point out just what it meant. And as "behemah', has no other thought attached than that it means cattle or quadru-
