Prim, of Winston, attended court here the past week. Mr. W. M. Watte, one of the county's moat substantial citizens, was here on business Friday. Messrs. J. G, H. Mitchell and W. M. Flynt, of Gideon, were among the visitors here the past week. Miss Lillie Leak, of Winston, reported the case of Martin vs. Falin in the Superior court herd the past week. Mr. J. M. Taylor, a popular warehouseman, of Stoneville, at tended court here a day or two the past week. Dupnty Marshall Gaston A. Carroll, of Winston, spent a day or two here the past week looking after some business Messrs. B. A. Over by, John T. Tucker and Jas. Mnrtin, three of Smith's best citizens and good farmers, were here Thursday re turning from Winston, where they sold a lot of tobacco. On account of the Confederate Veterans' Reunion, R chmond, Va , May 30 to June 2, the Southern Railway will sell round trip tick ets from Greensboro to Richmond for $4.05. Tickets on sale May 2fith to June 2nd inclusive, with fiual limit June 11th. State Superintendent Joyner says the examinations for five-year certificates for teachers will be held in all counties the second Thursday in July. He and the State board of examiners will pre pare graded papers for these ex aminations. Dr. D. C. Dicks, of the Dillard section, was a welcome visitor at the Reporter office one day the past week. Dr. Dicks is one of the best informed men the Re porter knows. A contribution from his pen occasionally would, no doubt, prove very interesting to the readers of the Rt-porter, and we expect to use our best elforts to that end. Mr. E. P. Neweoin, of King, v as a visitor at the Reporter office Thursday. Mr. Newsom lias just returned from the Jamestown Ex position, where he has been 9er> - ing as a Powhatan guard for some weeks. He thinks people would do well not to visit the exposition before August or September as the exhibits, buildings, etc , will n>t be in place and finished be fore that time.
