LOCAL ITEMS OF INTEREST. Dr. J. H. Ellington, of Sandy Ridge, visited Danbury this week. ' Mr. W. L. Hall, of Vade • Mecum, spent last night in town. Mr. B. A. Bailey, of Walnut Cove, at> tended court Tuesday. Dr. J. Walter Neal, of Meadows, was among the crowd who attended court this week. Among the number of new stu dents who nave recently entered Bchool here is Miss Beatrice Pike, of Campbell. County Commissioner John W. Gann, and one of the leading Re publicans of the county, was here on business this week. Miss Bertha Binkley has ac cepted a position as teacher at King, and will leave Saturday to begin her duties on Monday. The tobacco crop of the .county is probably seven-eighths cut. Another week will practically save the crop. Frost must be near. Mr. P. Hanes Linville, the popular Democratic candidate for Sheriff, was here this week shak ing hands and getting acquainted with many new friends. Dr. A. J. Hutchens, of Mad ison, was a Danbury visitor Saturday. Mr. S. H. Stewart, of Wins ton, spent a few days this week with his parents. The work of putting in steel approaches to the Hairston's Ford bridge across Dan River is about completed. Dr. Conrad and Mr. D. Rich, of Winston, are spending a a few days at Piedmont and Moor's Springs. Work on the bridge across the Dan here will be commenced in a few days. Nearly all of the material has arrived. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Johnson, of Winston, came up Monday to spend a few days. Mr. John son is attending court. The hotel at Piedmont Springs will likely be closed this week for the season. There are al most a dozen guests at the hotel at present. Mr. Lester B. Morefield and sister, Miss Jettie, of Sandy Ridge Route 1, were here Mon day on their way home from Winston. Mr. Jno. M. Culler, at the old home place this week. Glad to have you with us again. Hope you will come oftener. Mr. Tom Balton went to Win ston last week on business. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Culler are expecting to go to Florida in a few .weeks to make that their future home. Many of their friends regret to see them leave. Farmers are very busy saving their fodder and tobacco.
