THOROUGH PREPARATION. 1 Don't Get In Too Big a Hurry To Plant Your Crop -A Late Spring Means A Late Fall. March 8, 1912 f ' To Demonstrators and Agents in Virginia, North and South Carolina: We appreciate, that owing to the unusual winter, little work has been accomplished on the farms generally in your county, and, therefore, there is a great deal to be accomplished in a short time. For this reason we are fearful that our Demonstra tors will become more >r less discouiaged anil in their great anxiety to plant their crops in time will not give sufficient atten tion to the thorough preparation of their seed beds, We hold j and 1 think that you will agree with us upon reflec tion, that it is the wiser policy 1 to get your crops in a little late on a thoroughly prepared seed I bed than at an earlier date on a i poorly prepared one. Doubtless | you have heard it said that half of the cultivation of the crop should be done before the seed is put j into the ground. We see no reason for discouragement or: alarm, for, generally speaking a late spring means a late fall, j Nature provides for and takes care of us in this way. Wei ; sincerely hope that you will not | forget the great importance of , thoroughly preparing your seed beds. This office is now preach ing the gospel of thorough pre paration. Won't you help us spread it? Yerv truly yours, W. W. LONG, Field Agent. Announcement Ailvt.t Walnut Cove. N.
