Battle, in his talk before the county teachers last Saturday, sought to impress them with the fact that the responsi bility for the future progress or degeneracy of the race depended more upon the teacher than upon the parent. t He pointed out that changed industrial conditions made it often difficult, many times impossible, for the mother, under the necessity of earning her daily bread, to properly look after the intellectual or even physical de- velopment of her child. This as suming that she is qualified for i such duties. Realizing that in l many instances she is not, that, she is herself as much in need of information as to the vital things of life as the child, it becomes 1 the responsibility of the teacher' to impart such knowledge—when ; and how is for her to determine. Dr. Battle insisted that the ac cepted adage that "the hand that rocked the cradle ruled the world," was a bit of sentiment that would not stand analysis. It was the superior intellect that guided and directed the mind of youth that determined the destin ies of men and the fate of na tions. And of a truth, the teacher, more especially the public school teacher, has a mission beyond the prescribed studies and routine duties of the school room. In the teacher's hands is the plastic clay to mould according to the strength of his or her own per sonality. The teacher of today, the up to date teacher, realizes this and is attempting to reach the parent through the child. The mothers club and the community club are the teacher's first aid the med ium through which best results can be accomplished.—Fairbroth er's Everything. Despondency Due to Indigestion. It is not at all surprising that persons who have indigestion be come discouraged and despond ent. Here are a few words of hope and cheer for them by Mrs. Blanche Bowers, Indiana, Pa. "For vears my digestion was so poor that I could only eat the highest foods. I tried every thing that I heard of to get relief, but not until about a year ago when I saw Chamberlain's Tab lets advertised and got a bottle of them, did I find the right treatment. I soon began to im prove. and since taking a few bottles of them my digestion is fine." For sale by all dealers. County Commissioner J. I.
