WEDNESDAY, DEC. 18, 1929 ' LOCAL MS ITEMS The school here will have a Christmas entertainment oti Friday afternoon at 3=30. The pupils of each grade will ren der a short program under the direction of their respective teachers. Willie Baker was here Mon day. He tells the Reporter that he is expecting to purchase a farm soon. Joe Lynch, one of the leading business men of Mayodan. was here Monday. Mr. Lynch is handling a hardware line. R. L. Lawson, of Lawsonville. spent a short while in town Monday. Mr. Lawson tells th? Reporter that farmers are still rowing wheat in Peter's Creek. Though it is probably late, thi sign is good as showing the wise provision the Peter's Creek farmers are making for bread another year. It won't do to depend on tobacco alone W. J. Sands passed through Sunday to Winston-Salem. Paul Fulton, of . the Stokes fc Grocery Co., Walnut Cove, was here Monday. Rev. Fred X. Day, of Wins ton-Salem, preached here at the Baptist church Sunday morning. Mr. Day has a host of friends in this community who are always glad to have him visit us. He is the father of the Baptist church here. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Forest, of Walnut Cove, spent Sunday with their parents at Francis co. Mr. and Mrs. Posey L. Flinchum, of Wilson, have been spending som • days here with relatives. Mr. and Mr.-. Janus M. Mabe of Leaksville spent e week end with Mr and Mrs. S. A. Jones, of the King community, was a visitor her? today. The sale of 1930 automobile tags was started Monday. At the Winston-Salem office J. It. Spencer, of lawsonville, Stokes county, was the second person to purchase a license when the office opened Monday morning. Stokes County Lions Entertain Wives The Lions Club of Stokes county held their last meeting in Danbury. Each Lion brought his wife or "sweet heart." Supper was served banquet style at the Colonial Food Shoppe. Two new mem bers were present with their wives. These were Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Floyd, and Mr. anil Mrs. Jk» Zimmern'on. of Wal nut Cove.
