Guilford Battle Ground, Near

Beauty Spot—Mr. Menden-1
hall. Custodian, Here Today, j
The Feck' al government is
powerfully stingy in its ap
propriations to Guilford Battle
Grounds :uar Greensboro, which
has been made a national park.
The annual appropriation for
the up-ket'p of their pa.it is on
ly a little over £B,OOO per year,
and is n t enough to make any
improvements.
Mr. W. H. Mendenhall, the
custodian of this rational park,
wias a visitor here today. He
feels like Congress is going tfc
make an impropriation for the
improvement of the park dur
the next session of Congress.
Recently Mr. Mendenhall has
planted quite a lot of shrub
bery on the 125 acre plat, but
it takes considerable money tc
make a showing on such a
large tract. „
