Bailey was among the number from here who attended the Ka.-ter services in Winston-Salem early Sunday morn ing. Miss Ola Campbell, who under went an operation for mastoiditis the past week in a Winston-Salem hospital, is reported to be renting well. J. R. Nunn, whose name is again being mentioned as a candidate for Sheriff in the Republican primary, was a visitor here from Westtield Saturday. k Examination of seventh grade of the schools throughout the were "held yesterday. The rain and wind storm Monday ight caused Jesse Booth, poultry, lan here, to lose three hundred jgs in his incubator which were Just about ready to hatch. A win dow was left up and the blaze under the Incubator was extinguished, causing the eggs to get cold. Deputy Game Warden T. L. Booth recently, arrested Jim and Sam Mar. tin and Aaron Benton, all colored on the chrge of hunting without license. They will be given a hear ing tomorrow before Justice of the Peace N. A. Martin. The men each gave bond for their appearance. Little Katherine Sisk, 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Sisk, underwent an operation late yesterday for mastoiditis at the. Baptist hospital in Winston-Salem and this morning was resting com. fortably. Mr. Sisk returned to his _ lime here last night, leaving his wife with the little girl. Southern, an aged and well known citizen of the Flat Shoal community, is desperately ill at his home. He was confined to his bed two weeks since, and has recently suffered a stroke of paralysis, being unable to speak. The teachers and a majority of the pupils of the Danbury school are at Sandy Ridge today where they are taking part in the group commencement being held there by the schools of the eastern half of the county. Thos. J. George, former represen tative in the Virginia legislature front Ptrlck county, Va., was here today enroute to Winston-Snleni. Mr. George is very much interested in the State completing the highway I between Danbury and the Virginia line. Virginia's part of the contract he said, has been carried out and now he wants to see some action on the part of North Carolina. John William Hawkins, negro, has just been released frjm the Stokes county Jail on bond, having l>een' incarcerated last week when he swapped a watch and a quart of liquor for a pistol. The trade was made with Homer Branson, who is still being held in jail for taking the pistol from Mrs. Sadie Mabe whe-i he spent the night at her home near Danbury last week. Clyde Goins, driver of the Dan bury-Walnut Cove' school bus, and Miss Blanche Tuttle, daughter of Clerk of the Court J. W. Tuttle, of Stokes county, drove over to Martinsville, Va., yesterday and were married. Miss Tuttle - was a student of the Meadows high school and Goins was driver of the Dan bury-Walnut Cove school bus. The bride is only. 15 years old while the groom is 21.
