The Stokes Democrats in reg ular convention assembled Satui -day elected delegates to Raleigh State convention, and reaffirmed .its allegiance to the "Senator with Surry. The matter of the election of a pei manent county cliairm:in was de ferred until a later meeting on account of the lack of a quorum. There are 21 precincts, and iti was found that a number of i these had not regularly organized J «on the Saturday preceding the! I .county convention as the State I plan of organizaiion directs. The. law requires that a committee of! five, one of whom shall be a woman, must meet at each pre cinct on the Saturday preceding the convention day. and organiz" by naming one of their numbe) I precinct chairman. E. Davis, and seconded by J. L. Christian. McDonald supporter; S. P. Christian. Hoev supporter, and C. E. Davis, Graham supporter. The resolution was unanimously adopted. RESOLUTION: WHERAS, for a long period of tiai*, there has been an agree ment between the Democratic Executive Committees of Stoke* J and Surry counties, composing the 23rd Senatorial District of Worth Carolina, that the Senator' to which the District is entitled,j afaouH be rotated and under said ( agreement Stokes County has al- M)W nominated the Senator the ' JNT the President of the United and Surry County has always nominated the Senator in the ofl year: Now, therefore. Be it resolved by the Democrat ic Executive Committee of Stokes County, North Carolina, meeting in regular session at the Courthouse in Danbury on the 10th day of May. 1936. at the hour of 11 o'clock A. M. that they re-affirm their allegiance to said agreement and pledge their support to the candidate nomi 'nated by the Democratic party in the county entitled to the Sena tor under the rotating agreement heretofore existing between tho Executive Committees of the two counties Composing the '23 rd Senatorial District. Be it further resolved: ! That a copy of this resolutic- j I be transmitted to the Chairmar iof the Democratic Executive Cmmittee of Surry County and to the Chairman of the Board Elections of Stokes and Surry Counties.
