SURRY TOBACTO IS HARD HIT NEARLY HALF DESTROYED R Y DISK ASE—ROCKING HW FORSYTH, YADKIN AND STOKES PROPS A I,SO GREAT- I.Y INJFRED—MITII GOOD TOBACCO IN STOKES, HI T SOME FIELDS ALMOST WIPED OFT INCREASED ACREAGE. The Mount Airy Times says the Surry county tobacco crop i 3 al ready nearly half destroyed by the disease which nobody seems able to pronounce, but which i 3 variously designated as flea beetle, blue mold effects, and other disorders. Reports from Rockingham, Forsyth, Yadkin and other coun ties of this belt also indicate a serious damage to the crop of to bacco. In Stokes many crops of good tobacco are reported, though some fields have been practical?: wiped out. The Reporter is not able to estimate at this time the extent of the injury that has been inflicted, but it is probably not over 25 per cent. The short age resulting will doubtless be compensated by a considerable general increase in acreage.
