Pepper, 1 1 Ellen Kate and Vance, Mrs. J- W. 1 Hall and daughter Winifred last ' Sunday visited Mrs. Mamie E. 1 Oliver and family at Roanoke, ' Va., and J. W. Pepper at Chris tiansburg, Va. Mrs. Oliver has been confined to bed for some months. She is yet unable to get out but ap pears to be somewhat improved-1 Mrs. Oliver was formerly Miss Mamie Pepper of Danbury. On the way home from Roan oke, J. W. Pepper was visited at Christiansburg. Mr. Pepper has been confined to his home for sev eral years owing to a hip injury sustained in a fall whieh prevents him from walking except with crutches. Otherwisee he appear ed to be in good health. Mrs. Frank Martin has return ed from an extended visit in Pittsburgh, Pa., where she haa been with her mother, Mrs. J. P. Jr-, visitad Danbury today. Mrs. W. L. Nelson Claimed By Death Mrs. Sarah Jane Nelson, wife of W. L. Nelson, a lifelong resi dent of Stokes county, died Tues day night at 9:15 o'clock at her home at Walnut Cove after a long illness. Surwiing are the husband; two daughters, Mrs- Bessie Johnson and Mrs. Ethel Moorefield, both of Walnut Cove; two sons, Alex I Nelson of Walnut Cove, and Coy Nelson of Walkertown; five brothens, W. L Fagg of Danbury; H. D- Kagg of Pilot Mountain, S. M. Fagg of Steeds, A. J. Fagg of Winaton-Salem, and Robert Fagg of Idttfio; one sister, Mrs. Fran ( ces Ball of Winston-Salem. t The funeral will be held at tho home Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock- Elder J. A. Hints For Homem&kers By Jane Roger* PtKSH rosy peaches baked wltb canned unsweetened Hawaiian pineapple Juice and sugar, served hot with a dash pf powdered maee or a sprinkling of grated nutmeg will add a special fillip to the meat course, especially If roast chicken la the piece de resistance. Or try them for dessert, minus the spice, serrtnc with thin cream Instead or hard sauce flavored with nutmeg or mjtca. Prepare the peaches this way: Pour boiling water over eight firm but ripe peaches, rub off skins and place fruit close together In a bak- Ing dish. Sprinkle with one-half cap granulated sugar, pour over one half cup pineapple Juice, cover and bake In a moderate oven (350° F.) about SO minutes, then remove cover and allow fruit to brown allghtly.
