These beans were planted after wheat. The soil had been limed about two years ago. One noticable thing about the bean crop was the complete lack of leaf and bean damage due to the beetle. Beetles do not last up to September and October. This should be an added reason for fall planting of beans. Mr. Boles also reports that he lias cucumbers, corn, turnips, tur nip greens, and tomatoes in his truck patches for home use. Last year Mr. Eoles sold 544.00 worth of turnip greens from one tenth of .in acre. He made 50 bushels of Irish po tatoes and "2 bushels of sweet potatoes.
