From the very 'beginning of its existencv this ciub has gone on" conquering and to conquer" in a social way. The reception given at the beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs. G. N. Hutton on New fear's Eve was one exception. The parlors and reception hall vere decorated in the evergreens >f the holidays, with bright touches of red. The eye was pleased, the senses charmed by ;he taste and skill shown in be autifying the rooms. The quests vere received by the members of •:,he club and the courteous host ass. After greetings had been 1 exchanged, they were led to the vestf parlor, where a booth had oeen curtained off. Here each one stirred a mystic bowl, while a fortune-teller, hidden behind a screen, prophesied of what Fate should bring them during the coming year, 08. Some were )leased, and some were disposed o grumble as in life. But the ;tars had passed their verdict, And the young man who said her lame wasn't Mary might just as veil yield at one once, |The music had charms to soothe che most savage breast. To hear Prof. Patterson's violin ought to nake anybody leel at peace with all kind (for a time, at any rate.) The soles by Miss Warlick and Mr. Ralph Regnas of Atlanta were fire iy rendered and won deserved en cores. The duet (piano) by Mes dames Winters and A. B. Hutton made some good church member pat their right foot in a most suggestive way. The supper served was beyond praise. The quests praised it in the most effective way. One gentleman, feelingly discussing the taste of the scalloped oysters on the way home, said., "It was good enough for a cornshucking, Anybody who has ever been lucky enough to go to one of those good corn-shucking suppers that our Grandma had apreciat es this. The Bells tolled out the dying year, as seme of us went home wards and we wished for our hostesses and their friends aliks" X happy New Year." This is Worth Remembering.
