Already 200 women all about the State have sent In their names as delegates who expect to be present at the great mlssloary meeting here, to begin the 26th. Many names are coming in on all malls and the num ber will probably exceed 400, The entertainment committee Is work Ing hard and will have everything In shape at the proper time. Union County Man Shoots a Man in Concord. In an altercation over an ac count yesterday afternoon In Con cord, Mr. Marion Hamilton, son of Mr. W. T. Hamilton of Marshvltle township, and brother of Mr. J. W, Hamilton of Monroe, shot and dan gerously wounded Mr. M. F. Uichtle of that place. The would was re ported as very dangerous. It Is not known here where the fait lay. Mr, Hamilton and his brother clerked at Efird's store In Concord, and the shooting occured there. Mr. Uichtle clerked In a hardware store. Both men have families. Mr. J. W. Ham Uton went to Concord last night and he Is expected to return tonight accompanied by his brother. Mr. Crook Wounded. Mr. Leroy Crook of North Monroe township, was cut In the side Sat urday night at Benton & Crow's btore north of town. He went In the store under the Influence of whiskey and wna very boisterous and offensive in his language. Mr. Baxter Benton, son of Mr. J. F. Bon ton, got the Idea that Crook was about to attack his father, and pull ed his knife out and stabbed Crook. Dr. .Veal was called, and carried Crook to Charlotte, where It was four.d that the wound was not like ly to be serious, and he is expected home In a day or two. Tho sewerage bill election pass ed second reading. Tho report of Tax Collector T.L. Crowell showed that 14452.86 was collected In February. IVnth of Mrs. Council. Mrs. Carrie Connell. wife of Mr, James Connell of Goose Creek town ship, died March 2nd, and was bu rled at Hopewell Sunday. She was about 36 years old and had been a faithful member of Hopewell Bap tist church for a number of years. She leaves a husband and three children, a mother, two brothers and one sister and a host of rela tives and friends to mourn their loss. Knt ranee Examination Public High Schools. The Board of Aldermen of the City of Monroe Ordain: 1. That for the purpose of estab lishing, providing and maintaining a sewerage system for the City of Monroe the Board of Aldermen shall Issue bonds of the City of Monroe to the amount of thirty thousand (30,000.00) dollars, bear ing Interest at the rate of five per cent per annum, of the denomina tlon of one thousand dollars, to each and every one of which bonds shall be attached coupons representing the interest due thereon, which coupons shall be due and payable annually until said bonds shall mature. The bonds shall run for a period of thirty years and shall be consecu lively numbered and the coupons shall bear the number of the bond to which they are attached and shall declare the amount of Inter est which they represent and when due and shall be receivable in .pay ment of taxes due the City of Mon roe by the holder of said bonds. The bonds shall be exempt from municipal taxation. 2. That the bonds shall be Issued over the signature of the Mayor of the City of Monroe, witnessed by the signature of the Clerk to the Board of Aldermen and attested by the official seal of the City of Mon roe and shall be sold by the Mayor of the City of Monroe, under the direction of the Board of Aldermen at a sum not less than their par value. 3. That for tho purposo of pay ing the Interest on said bonds an nually, as It becomes due, and of providing n fund for the payment of said bonds at maturity, the Board of Aldermen shall annually levy and ciuse to be collected, as other city taxes are lev-led and collected, a tax upon real and personal proper ty, and mixed, subject to taxation for municipal purposes sufficient to pay the annual Interest on said bonds nnd to provide a fund for the payment of said bonds ns required by the statute authorizing their is- 8U3. 4. That the question whether the bonds hereinbefore provided for shall bo Issued and a sewerage sys tem established, operated and main tained In the City of Monroe shall be submitted to the qualified vot ers of tho City of Monroe for their determination on tin 7th day of May, 1012, after sixty days' notice thereof In the same manner as Is provided for the election of offi cers for the city of Monroe, at which election thoso voters fa voring the Issue of bonds and the establishment of a sewerage sys tem Khali vote a ballot on which shall bo written or printed "Sew erage, and those opposing the Is sue of bonds and the establishment of a sewerage system shall vote a ballot on which shall be written or printed "No Sewerage."
