CORRESPONDENCE Wc wish correspondents in all the earby post offices. W rite at oiw*#*. Thursday. December 5 1912 FELICITY. No labor truly done is menial in the si^jht of Heaven. He that fills honestly the place for which he is fitted is no man’s inferier. I am as much to you as you are to me, whether I carried of a hod and you a senator of the nation. We cannot all be Solomons or Shakespeares or Rockfellers. Nor, for the sake of humanity, was it ever de signed that we should be. The linnet does not cease its song because it lacks the wings of the eagle, nor does the ant work any the less contentedly because it cannot gather honey as the bee. In the mechanism of the cosmos there a.'e no useless and no unworthy parts. Each in its place is a master. “There is always room at the top!” exclaim the flippant phi losophers of today, seeking to spur us on. It is a false incentive. ‘ ‘Twas never intended that we should all be climbers. We are as near to heaven at the foot of the mountain as at the summit and the flowers are as sweet And let us not forget that there is no summit, however lofty, that does not rest upon the great sea levj]. Whosoever, therefore gains the mountain top of material greatness owes it to those who stand beneath. The world’s i)ig men are but the concrete expressions of our collective thoughts and energies. No fellow being is so far unrela ted to us hut that when he reaches the top you can see and touch him. No man knows all things. There is not anyone, however wise he be, that may not learn something from you. Apelles took lessons of a cobbles. We can take lessons from the humblest and most abject obiect The high heel shoes worn by the American ladies have no more to commend them than do the lip beauties of central Affrica. These negro women in order to make them selves more attractive and keep in the fashion wear weights on their lips until they are stretched out four or five inches in length, and the craze for style among American women leads them to wear shoes with heels from three to four inches I = in height. Less blame should be attached to the African beauty who is trying to keep in the style, when her inteligence is considered, than the American woman who is pitched forward on her high heel shoes, with a view of being extra dudish. HOWEVER handsome the man may be an ill fitting suit spoils his looks. Go to a firm that can furnish you with the best clothes, and can fit you in the best style.
