Veterant at Nashville, Jnne 14 16
Th Camp of Veterans, the Sons
of Veteran, and the three Chapters
of the Daughter ot tbe Confederal
cy are working in harmony witn
the business organisation of Nash
ville to furnish an entertainment a
nearly fanltlea a posaiblo.
The fact that these conventions
had become so expensive to cities
entortaining eo deterred action that
it was left for Nashville to become
host aaio aooner than was expect
ed. Hut the capital of the Volun
toer Slate, aided by adjicent com
ronnities, is ready. All of tbe peo
pie are in hearty accord, and ar
ranecmoots are such that this invi
tation, to Confederate Veteran
everywhere, i extended without
misgiving in any particular. Ar
rangeuienta are far better than ever
before for Veterant to moot in their
old command on the campu of
the Vanderbilt University.
The only variation from former
rules of entertainment is that ot giv
ing the "old soldiers" preference.
This action will be approved by
every loyal, beautiful woman who
come to do them hone r. While
sponsor and their maid of honor
will be entertained by tueir uepari
trnnt, Division, and Brigade Com
manders, provision is being made
for many of them in the home of
our beet people, o tbe committee is
confident of aa perfectly delightful
reunion aa hns ever been held. Ihe
orator of the occasion will be Lev.
S. McKim, of Washington, D. C,
who served in the Army of North
ern Virginia, a most loyal Confed
erate and a very eloquent rpeaker.
The Confederated Southern Me
morial Association that of the
"Mother of the Confederacy" who
never ceased their labor alter caring
for the tick and wounded, but went
right on erecting monuments for the
dead will hold their annual con
vention. The United Sod of Con
federate Veterans will also bold
their annual convention, with prom
ise of more active service and zeal
than ever before, hence the import
ance of this reunion is second to
none in the history of the orgaufzi
tion. lleasona not heretofore appealing
to the heroes of tho Confederacy
should bestir every Southern patriot.
An imprcBsion prevail that only a
few more of these general rcuuioua
will be held, and a thi meeting
will be the first since the death of
that magnetic and matchless man,
the only Commander in Chief while
hving, Gen. John 1. Gordon, it
will be fitting to do bis memory
honor by the largest attendance pos
sible. At thia service Judge Thos.
G. Jones, ex Governor of Alabama,
has been sclecttd to prepare resolu
tions in honoring Gen. Gordon.
Don't let your bravest and best
soldiers fail to come from lack of
means ; provide the small sum for
their railroad fare, and when they
arrive we will feed them aud pro

of expense.
While first consideration is given
tbe Veterans, as open hearted he pi

It i earreetly requested and urg

Korean Houses.
The Korean style of architecture
is suited to anything but an extreme
climate such as prevails there. Dur
mg tbe winter months it is very col J.
The houses are made of bamboo
frame-work, plastered within and
without wfth adobe mud. Tbe roof
i thatched with rice straw, which ia
weather proof. The inaide may be
made into one room by the slidirg
back of a screenlike partition Just
why these were introduced it is im
possible to say, for they are but
rarely used, as privacy is never de
sired in Korea. This open space
becomes the living room, and even
when travelers are p.tssing alon and
must bait for tbe night they are in
vited to share a common sleeping
place on the fl xr with the entire
family. The discomfort of f ucb an
experience is extreme during tne
summer, in tne kronen, wtiic'i is
just without tbe living room, there
is located a most curious kind ot
stove, f rom this clay pipes extend
under tbe door to tbe living room.
They warm the house summer and
winter alike, font has never entr red
their miuds that some means could
be devised whereby the heat could
be turned off from tbe other quar
ters. Housekeeper.

"Do It To Day."
Tbo lime-worn injunction, "Never
put off 'lil to morrow what you can
do today," is now generally pre
sented in thi.- form : "Dj il lo day !"
That is the terse advice wo want to
give you about that hacking cough
or demoralizing cold with which
you have been struggling for several
days, perhaps week. Take some
reliable remedy for it to pat and
let that remedy be Dr. Bocliei'
German Syrup, which has been in
use for over thirty five year. A
few doaea of it will undoubtedly re
lieve your cough or cold, and it
continued use for a few days will
cure voo completely. No matter

4. Tbe president is criticized

5. There are other criticisms, most
of which relate only to a difference

6 There is no suggestion of any

The widely heralded slander of do
