Mr. Bailey is making the raee for nomination for Governor on iaeue*, not per sonalities. This ia as it should be. No man has the right to aspire to this high of fice who would ask the suffrage of the voters on any other ground. Mr. Bailey has always stood for right and justice. There has not been a fight in this country involving a moral issue since he became of age into which he did not throw himself, body and soal, on the side of right Mr. Bailey never rides the fence on any public question. He never waita to *ee from which quarter the wind la blowing the strongest He has his own opinions, and is fearless in giving them expression. One always knows where to find Mr. Bail ey. His feet are firmly planted on the moral side of every question. Mr. Bailey contends that Government based on authority rather than justice to the individual, economic life baaed on special privilege instead of equality of op portunity, is passing out everywhere. It must pass likewise in North Carolina. Mr. Bailey is a thoroughbred Democrat and has served the Democratic par ty all his life. We are all proud of the progress made, and Mr. Bailey is one of the leaders that haa helped to bring about all the progreea the party has made. He ia now laboring to further help the party, and at the same time relieve the burden of taxation from the man of moderate means and place it on the man more able to bear the burden. Which ia in accordance to the national Democratic efforts. Mr. Sim mon* is now trying to do for the Nation what Mr. Bailey is trying to do for the State of North Carolina. Do not fail to hear Mr. Bailey. He will tell you how to relieve the land of its ever increasing burden of Taxation. He will tell you how North Carolina can get equal freight rates with other states. Now, do not forget the hour One Thirty, and the day Monday, May the 26th. 1924.
