The Third Annual Union Sabbath
School Convention of McDowell county
will convene, in the Methodist church
at Xebo on July the 2Uth at 0 a. inland
to continue the nextlday. It is to be
composed of Christians of all denomi
nations, "for encouragement, for coun
sel and co-operation." It is for an inter
change of experiences as to the best
methods of Sabbath School work. "In
the multitude of counsellors there is
safety." It is undenominational in the
sense that it is a union of all evangelic
al denominations for the strengthen-
of each other, aud the better to
reach the unsaved. We can do together
in this work what we cannot alone, or
are not doing. The Convention will be
n connection with tIie"X. C. State Sun
day School Association," one of the of
ficers of which will in all probability
meet with ns in convention. The con
vention will advocate Union Sunday
Schoo's only where there cirn be no de
nominational Sunday Schools. "Antag
onizes no denomination in any way
whatever." The aim of the convention
U therefore onlv co-oDeration in the
Master's work. Its work will aid the ef
forts of many a pastor, whose hands
are already overful of labor. By uitcd
efforts we can reach the many Sabbath
School better, "They who are for us are
not airainst us " and every aim of our
united work is for the glory of L hnst
and salvation of souls. A much fuller
description of the nature and objects
of this Sabbath school work will appear
next week we trust. Our first and sec
ond convention of this kind was inter
esting, instructive and encouraging.
Thanks to those who aided in making
it so. ow let us prom ny ine lessons
of past experience and be determined
to make iis convention at Xebo much
better than either of the past. We de
sire delegates from every Sabbath
school in McDowell county of every
denomination, and we desire delegates
as well from union Sabbath schools.
Let at least three delegates be sent
from each school, or let all the teachers
and officers be considered as delegates,
Mv we have a full attendance, for I
feel sure that we are not going to ex
haust the hospitality of the good peo
ple of Xebo and vicinity, who are going
to entertain us. Crops will be about
layed by" then, and let us have a large
prmcon rue of workers and friends. See
program in next week's paper.
Yours in the work for Christ,
Wm. II. White.
