Prisoners Are Passed Over Border. ^E1 Paso, June 29.—^Twenty-three ne^rro troopers of the 10th cavalry and Lem Spillsbury a Mormon scout, captured by the Mexicans at Carrizal and coofioed in the peoiteDtiary at Chihuahua City, were broufifhk to the border at noon today and turned over to the Amer ican authorities. A shout of lauf^hter rose from the thousands of Mexicans who gathered to witness the arrival of the negroes on the special train. The prisoners were dressed iu the scantiest and most nondescript garbs. Some had on only trous ers. One wore a shirt, while a towel encircled his waist. Other’s heads were decorated with ban danas. One Man Killed; Another Badly Injured. Johnson City Staff, 29th. News was received here late Tuesday afternoon of a wreck which occurred on the Black Moun tain railway near Pensacola, N. C., some time Tuesday afternoon in which Ottie Mumpower, formerly of this city, was instantly kilbd, and his father, John William Mum- DOwer, was badly scalded on his legs and lower parts of the body. The reports state that Ottie Mumpower, who was fireman on this road, and bis father, who was engineer, were making a trio over the road which is used in hauling lumber out of the mountains, and that a car broke loose from a side track in front of them and came down the line with such rapidity that it crashed into the engine with such force that a bad wreck ensued with the above results.
