One Man Killed; Another Badly
Injured.
Johnson City Staff, 29th.
News was received here late
Tuesday afternoon of a wreck
which occurred on the Black Moun
tain railway near Pensacola, N. C.,
some time Tuesday afternoon in
which Ottie Mumpower, formerly
of this city, was instantly kilbd,
and his father, John William Mum-
DOwer, was badly scalded on his
legs and lower parts of the body.
The reports state that Ottie
Mumpower, who was fireman on
this road, and bis father, who was
engineer, were making a trio over
the road which is used in hauling
lumber out of the mountains, and
that a car broke loose from a side
track in front of them and came
down the line with such rapidity
that it crashed into the engine with
such force that a bad wreck ensued
with the above results.
